LaFierrita
Didn't realize my log was up for debate! I'll switch to a Word document. Thanks!
GFChris
Yup, smoothies and juicing are discouraged on a Whole30. For snacks, you want them to be a mini-meal, including a protein and fat.
amberino21
^ this! From someone who started the whole 30 coming from 6 meals a day, 2 green smoothies a day, just start without them. Eat the vegies. Eat the fruit if you need it. Follow the template - I didn't plan to have snacks, because they aren't encouraged. I knew if I'd allowed for them "just in case" I probably would have eaten them. Make your meal portions bigger than you think and if you can't finish, save the leftovers for a mini meal later on if you really need it - if you're actually starving, not just eating because you always have "something" at a certain time. LaFierrita
Thanks! I didn't realize that my log would be open for discussion; it's more of a way for me to capture what I'm learning throughout the process. I moved it to a Word document. I am coming from a place where strict rules would be detrimental (coming out of disordered eating, PMDD, and food/diet-induced anxiety), and in order to keep the Whole30 from becoming an obsession in its own way I am allowing myself to learn as I go while still following the spirit of the Whole30. My husband and I are on a very tight budget while paying off student loans, so we are making do with what resources we have. I do not feel that I should have to defend my actions so I see now that posting my log publicly wasn't a very good decision on my part. I appreciate your concern and willingness to help! Later on I may post with some questions, but for now I'd like to continue my journey in private and with the support of close friends and family who are also following a Whole9 lifestyle. GFChris
It's not about defending your actions. It's about getting helpful feedback to properly do a Whole30, so you get the best results possible.Log your meals however you like. I encourage you to continue to read the forum for support and ask any questions that may come up as you go through the process. There will be loads of folks starting their Whole30s on August 1st, so there is bound to be lots of activity here while others go through the process.I sincerely wish you the best and good health on this journey.
