Bet
I am going to a company outing on Thursday at a Bowling Alley. It will be around dinner time. I just saw the menu, and it's the usually fare, hot dogs, burgers pizza. They do have sweet potato fries. I was thinking of getting a burger (without bun, of course) and some sweet potato fries. Not ideal, of course. But is this compliant? I normally make my own SPF at home but have had them out once since on W30.
GFChris
You would need to confirm the oil they're cooked in is compliant and they're not coated with anything (e.g., gluten) that's not Whole30.

Terresa
Pretty much any commercial yam/sweet potato fries I've found are coated with non-compliant stuff.
Bet
Hmm, I didn't think about coating. I might just bring a snack and eat when I get home. Thanks.
ErinK
I asked about the sweet potato fries at Muscle Maker Grill once and they cook them in soybean oil. Muscle Maker is supposed to be health focused! So frustrating. Anyways, if MM uses soybean oil because it's cheaper I can't even imagine a bowling alley that wouldn't do the same or worse. A good snack you could bring would be raw Jicama cut into fry size pieces. It's great raw and has a nice crunch

Moderators ultrarunnergirl Posted July 31, 2013 Moderators Share Posted July 31, 2013 Sadly, they are usually cooked in non-compliant oil AND coated with some kind of flour ...
JJB
I checked out the ingredients on some frozen sweet potato fries at Costco once...full of all kinds of nasties, so I've never even considered them an option at restaurants.
