dianakinnett
I am on day 3 of my first time at Whole30. So far I am feeling pretty great - less tired, more alert and productive at work. I've tried to stick very closely to the shopping list, and am trying not to 'treat myself' too much with things like fruit and nut butters. I am travelling for work over the next three days and I'm trying to figure out what snacks I can bring. I'm anticipating that there will be very little Whole30-safe food for me to eat while I'm there, and it's sort of a remote location. I'm going to pick up a lunch cooler with an ice pack so I can bring some things, but does anyone have any thoughts on snacks that would keep well unrefrigerated for a few days? So far I'm bringing almonds, some prosciutto chips I made (basically dehydrated prosciutto), some sweet potato chips I made, and a small jar of almond butter. amberino21
what are the snacks for? are they to eat at meal times - or are meals provided?
dianakinnett
The snacks are for meal times - food is provided but if it's anything like last year, it's going to be very non-Whole30-friendly. Last year was a lot of powdered eggs for breakfast with sketchy sausage, creamy dressing-laden salads for lunch, and burgers for dinner.
amberino21
What about tins of tuna/salmon or even HB eggs? I've seen people mention some sort of pre packaged guacomole - do these need a fridge? Some vegies would last a few days, so would some fruit ( although you shouldn't rely on the fruit) Could you communicate with the place beforehand and either ask if there's a fridge you can use, or if they can provide something that is compliant (even plain salad that you could add protein or fat to?) sunnymama
Organic hormone free meats-- chicken or turkey are easy, neat, and good alone if you want to avoid messy condiments on the go. Veggies with a little oil/fat.
sunnymama
I'm sorry I just realized you said UNrefrigerated. Then veggies and a knife to cut them such as cucumbers, avocado if you like them, tomatoes maybe. Agree with Amber tuna probably best then. dianakinnett
Thanks everybody! I'm definitely going to pack some ripe avocados, hard boiled eggs, tuna packets, walnuts, turkey jerky, sweet potato chips, almonds, and olives! Those should keep okay. amberino21
I'd also make some salad, or take salady ingredients - at least you'd have something for a day (or two if you're lucky!)
dianakinnett
Thanks again for all your suggestions! I ended up in a room with a fridge, and that made a huge difference. The food provided by the resort was almost all meats loaded with creamy sauces and gravies, and salads that came pre-dressed. My snacks (nuts, avocados, boiled eggs, broccoli florets, mini peppers, almond butter, and prosciutto chips) really saved the day! All of your feedback really helped me stick with my Whole30 while traveling. Thanks everyone!
