cpittman
I swim for my college, so practicing in the summer is necessary. At this level, even taking a day out of the pool isn't an option. Unfortunately, it is also our off season, so I use my summers to build up my strength training because it is so hard to keep up a focus on strength during the season. This means that I'm swimming from 5 AM to 7 AM and then lifting during my lunch hour at my internship. My lifts have been sluggish and my heart rate quickly spikes. I've increased my carb intake (sweet potatotes mostly), but I wanted to know if I should be eating 7 meals per day with this training schedule: 2 pre-WO, 2 post-WO, and the standard 3? Also, I was wondering if anyone had tips/suggestions for the types of foods I should be eating before and after each workout? Thanks!
Moderators Tom Denham Posted July 31, 2013 Moderators Share Posted July 31, 2013 You are due 7 meals with two-a-day workouts. The meal-template tells you how much to eat at each meal: http://whole9life.com/book/ISWF-Meal-Planning-Template.pdf My favorite pre-workout meal is one or two boiled eggs or if I am not hungry, a small handful of nuts. My favorite post-workout meal is a can of tuna packed in water, sardines packed in water, or roast chicken breast. I don't workout enough to need carbs, but when I have included them, I like cold baked sweet potato.
trigirl
I am getting ready to start the Whole30. I will be doing 2 a day workouts as a triathlete. I found this thread which answers my ? About Pre/post 2 workouts. So the next question I have is..... Is it ok to eat more than 2 eggs per day? And. If I have a postWo meal at around 6:30-7pm and then eat my full meal around 7:30-8.... Is it ok to go to bed by 9pm?
SharynF
You can certainly eat more than two eggs a day. I have been known to eat seven in one day and I am sure that's not a record!
jent103
One full meal serving of eggs is as many as you can hold in your hand, which for most people is 3-4 - so two a day is completely fine! I routinely eat dinner within an hour or two of going to bed. It's probably not ideal for either of us, but from what I've read, as long as it doesn't interfere with your sleep it seems okay. Or there is Denver homesteading. When I was leading up to Ironman I didn't always have pre and post WO meals. I really used my hunger as a guide concerning a pre workout meal and sometimes I had just had breakfast, so no need for pre workout meal. Most the time I would finish a training session and just have a real meal right away instead of a post workout meal.
