missmunchie
Hi, Guys. I fell off over the weekend. Climbing back up and starting over. I might need to subscribe to the emails again; I thought I could just re-read the old ones, but I might do better with someone poking me from my inbox every morning
Mrsfrosty
Missmunchie...welcome. Yeah I subscribed again for the daily reminder AND clicking the link at the end of the day...even though I had all the emails fron June's whole30. Only $4.95 to repeat vs the original $14.95 Out to dinner last night...had plain burger dry grilled...no bun, cheese, etc...just the burger and sliced avocado...then salad vs fries....added EVOO and balsamic vinegar....few pistachios later...on to.day 14....almost halfway! pam21e
Good job Kelly!!! I worked yesterday and stayed compliant with my eating. I had a headache all day despite taking my migraine med. When I have a headache I usually don't feel like eating much. Still reeling with my lab numbers, can't believe my cholesterol and LDL was up a bit. My Vit D was down so I will start taking a Vit D3 supplement. ~pam
missmunchie
Day 1 v2.0 is off and I'm feeling optimistic. Had my lazy frittata with avocado for M1, split with the Squishy-pants. I'm going out to lunch for work today, I'm hoping everyone will be okay with a burger place so I can order a bun-less burger and side salad. I'll figure it out. Mrsfrosty
Pam: Hope you're feeling better! Yeah, during June Whole 30 I did not take my Vit D3 supp or my calcium supp.....and when I went for lab work, he said my Vit D was still low (didn't tell him about Whole 30 and that I had skipped my Vit D and calcium supps for 30 days). So, for Aug Whole 30, I AM taking both supps...and still taking my chol and BP meds. I go back in Nov for full physical...so we'll see....hope to have shining results by then! As for my not exercising....pushed myself into a corner. Gym sent email basically "haven't seen you in a while"...what can we do to help? I told them I am lazy....only 1 or 2 workouts on elliptical at home..know what to do, just not doing it...tired after work, have part time business, dog heath issues and family death. They pushed personal training, but I told them I used to bodybuild competitively, so I know what to do (basically). They suggested I come in for an assessment (body fat, etc and to talk about my program ..or lack of one). I said I need to get up early and do workouts at 5 a.m. to be at work by 7.....so they said they have a trainer this Friday at 6. I said thanks but I"ll wait til after labor day...and they booked me for tomorrow anyway! So, I'll go...just 30 min ...it's for the assessment.....not a 60 min personal training. At least it will get me up (I was going to sleep in..day off)...but I'm working 9-2 on my day off tomorrow anyway...too much going on....so I'll go at 6 for the assessment, then work out, then shower, breakfast and back to to work 9-2. I have a client Sunday to prep for too. Busy, busy...but all good. I just need to get back INTO a reg exercise routine. Last night hubby took me out again for dinner. So proud of myself. Had plain grilled salmon, plain veggies and half avocado. Yay. Few pistacios at home...and kombucha. Husband still can't believe my allergies are gone. During reintro will need to be super mindul...so I can figure out WHAT was causing allergies since age 12 (I'm 52 now)...so maybe dairy? maybe gluten? Who know? Tracy Chauncey Johnson
Day 6 for me. Still struggling with temptations. What would it hurt? It's just one coke. That evil voice in my head. But I've resisted. Like Kelly I really want to pin down the problem foods during the reintro. And if I do it right, maybe no more whole30s for me. pam21e
Kelly, what kind of work do you? I am a nurse and work 4 ten hour shifts, I am always tired after work so I am thinking I should get up early and go into the gym. My hours are 9-7, I could get up at 5:30 and work out for 45 min to an hour, and still have plenty of time to get home shower, eat breakfast and head into work. It's a thought!!! I haven't felt the best the last couple days, feel like I have a virus. My husband and I went out to dinner tonight, I had pan seared salmon with asparagus. So yummy! My husband had a deep fried Twinkie with chocolate sauce drizzled on it. Yuck. ~pam
Mrsfrosty
Pam. My Monday thru Friday job is in Human Resources/Personnel for the City of Novato...so city/local government. I also have a part-time business on weekends...I'm a certified clinical hypnotherapist so I have clients that I work with for different issues such as weight loss, smoking cessation fears and phobias, relaxation, surgery prep, etc.....love the hypnosis work and hope to do it full time someday. Day 16 done. Woo hoo. 6 a.m. Personal trainer went well! Did assessment - weight, measurements, body fat. I weighed Aug 1 for this Whole 30 at 162 and won't weigh again til Aug 31 but the trainer weighed me today at 158.8....so if I reduce it a little for gym clothes and sneakers and I'm calling it 158....4 lbs down from Aug 1. Yay. He showed me some exercises for abs and legs....told him about my Whole 30 and my overall health goal but needing to get back to working out regularly. Pam, about a year ago I would get up at 4:30 am and workout, shower, have breakfast and then be at work by 7...I'd have my workout behind me, had tons of energy at work and then had my evenings free....want to do that again. pam21e
Haven't posted in a day or so, two late nights at work and not feeling the best isn't a good combination. I think I have a respiratory virus, working in a hospital, I am exposed to EVERYTHING! You would think since I have worked in a hospital since 1983 I would be immune but no so much. Have stayed compliant and thank goodness for my Primal pac's because other wise I may not have. The last two days at work were busy and I only had time to grab my primal pac to eat for lunch. I was off today and off tomorrow. This morning was up early 5:15, for my husbands triathlon. He has another in two weeks. Tonight we went out to dinner, I was craving steak so I had a nice filet mignon and sweet potatoes. Yum-o. ~pam

Mrsfrosty
Wow! My primal pacs came FAST this time around! The first time I ordered them (in June) they took a month or so to come. This time, I ordered them Aug 9 and they tried to deliever it Saturday, Aug 17 (one week later) but I had it sent to work and work was closed Saturday, so it came today....wooo hooo! First time I had ordered 3 small packs of beef jerky only and 5 packs of the small snack pack...now that I tried it and liked it...I ordered 15 of the small snack packs....will try to make them last! In reading "Healthy Living" magazine, saw an article about a book called "Foodist" by a PhD gal....sounded very similar to Whole 30 (maybe a bit less strict...no sugar, no alcohol, no wheat, no dairy and check mood daily)...I bought the iBooks version and will read it next weekend...but it also referred to a goal setting app called LIFT that I wanted to share with you all. I like it because it's a free app and you can use it for any positive habit you are doing and want to encourage....or one you want to develop....and it's a social environment where folks doing the same thing are in groups. There is a Whole30 group, so I joined that one....I also joined one for "drinik more water" and for "exercise daily"...and you can develop your own (such as floss daily, meditate more, etc.). What I like about it is the tracking/accountability part. I renewed my Whole 30 Daily newsletter even though I saved all the ones I got in June, but I did so JUST so I could "clilck" the link saying another Whole 30 day...well, with this LIFT app, you get a green check mark button that you get to click daily for each of the habits you select/create...and it also tracks and says X number of days....and that you have completed a 7 day "streak", etc. Others can comment or "prop" which is similar to "like" in Facebook....and you can make notes. It shows you your progress for each of your "habits". So far, I am starting with the following: -Whole 30 -Drink Water Daily -Exercise Daily -Read devotional from Joel Osteen and/or Joyce Meyer Daily -Foodist Recalibration (similar to Whole 30...no sugar, no dairy, no alcohol, no wheat, check mood daily) and today, because of my overindulging in Trader Joe's Just Mango dried mango and Trader Joe's pistachios....I joined -No nuts -No dried fruit I can think of tons of others (floss, meditate, etc.) but will focus on these for now and then once habits are incorporated, will add some "new" habits to work on. Wanted to share the app. So cool. Highly recoomend it. Also, it's fun...and you can also set reminders (via push notification or via email). One piece of advice is to NOT use your name, use something else. They don't have security features yet. You can add friends, too...like Facebook...so if you join, look for me as "Mrsfrosty"....and add me as a friend! They have for iPhone, Andoid and Web...I downloaded it to my iPad (which is the iPhone app...they don't have a specific one YET for iPad)....and also on the web so I can look at my progress there too. Try it out and let me know what you think. I love tracking...as long as it's not too obsessive. pam21e
Thanks Kelly, I will get that app as well. Sounds really cool. I am feeling better, but not 100% yet. I still have this nuisance cough. Day 20 yay!!! Kelly, have you decided what and if you are going to re-intro back into your eating yet? I have not been having cravings, I just want to eat M&M's. My husband eats them EVERY NIGHT and its driving me crazy, he eats them while he is reading. I loved M&M's prior to Whole 30, I am sure I still would I just don't want to get started on them. I don't know that I can stop. Yesterday I had a good workout, did a little walk/run on the treadmill then a little weights. Was doing great until one of the trainers (who is new and is looking for clients) walks up to me introduces himself and asks if I want to learn a different way to work my arms. I said yes. After he showed me, I told him I usually work out with another trainer, and so he left me alone after that. All I wanted to was be left alone so I could work out!!! ~pam ~pam
Mrsfrosty
Pam: Glad you're feeling a bit better, and will be 100% soon...hugs! Well, I blew it last night as far as the no TJ dried mango and the no TJ pistachios "habits"....had both after we got home from dinner out (and it was a yummy, saisfying dinner....steak, veggies, avocado and soda water...so was not truly hungry....just bad habit of eating those items later in the evening). So, can't check off those two items for yesterday on the LIFT app! Still Whole 30 compliant, though. This a.m. I had an omelette with the leftover veggies from dinner, avocado and now enjoying my morning kombucha. Oh, had a 1/2 cup of fresh blueberries too! Today NO mango or nuts! This a.m. at work we have our monthly bday/anniversary celebration...which means food and treats....had such a yummy breakfast that I won't be tempted.....plus it's day 20! Can't mess up now! Lunch will be repeat of yesterday...a nice salad with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, celery...balsamic vinegar....avocado and bay shrimp...and WATER.....dinner will make Whole 30 Thai chicken and veggie curry. M & M's are tough...I like them too...actually, many candies would normally appeal to me, but for now, cravings are gone again...except for the dried mango and pistachios! But candy bars at the vending machine at work are NOT calling to me....when at sister in law's for dinner....the enchiladas, lasagna, etc. look good.....BUT.....overall, cravings are under control. Still no allergies, so thrilled. Husband is sneezing up a storm..and normally I would be too....itchy eyes, stuffed up. Feels GREAT not to have those symptoms.....so to answer your question, Pam, re retintroduction...I definitely need to be more careful this time around. After my June Whole 30 (my 1st ever)...I reintroduced dairy...had half and half with coffee, had cheese on a burger and had plain greek yogurt. Those seemed fine. I don't really miss those items though, but I guess I still need to reintroduce to make sure none of those items caused my allergies to return. I then went on to non gluten grains and was ok...but when I got to gluten grains, I got my cravings and allergies back, so I "think" it's the gluten...we'll see. I have to pay better attention this time around. So, with all that said, I am going to start with dairy again...probably the same three items..half and half (for when I don't have my coconut milk for my coffee), plain greek yogurt (high protein and convenient) and perhaps cheese for occasional burger or in something else. What about you? Do you know what you are going to reintroduce? Also, yesterday the personal trainer I met with Friday for assessment comped me a session..so I was there at 5:30 a.m. yesterday..did a total body circuit in 30 min and it felt great. Tonight I'm going to do elliptical or stationary bike. then wed and fri I plan to do the circuit on my own. Shooting for mon wed fri circuit...tues, thurs, sat cardio. We shall see. pam21e
@Kelly..... Today I had to visit the endodontist for a tooth abscess, I found out yesterday at my regular dentist who I made an emergency visit to. They started me on antibiotics and then today I had the abscess drained and the old root canal cleaned out and retreated. Not fun!!!!!! Haven't felt like eating, mainly because of the sensitivity of the tooth. Anyway..... day 22 over. 8 to go for this round of Whole 30. Almost done . ~pam
Mrsfrosty
Sorry to hear about your tooth...no fun! I have been compliant but feel SO much like jumping ship! We are going out tonight...so will have a grilled steak, plain veggies and avocado....still eating TJ mango and TJ pistachios. No workout til tomorrow. Have a client tomorrow afternoon...fun! Love those appts. One more week....then reintro to find out..finally, what is causing the allergies all these 40 years....dairy? gluten? I think most likely the gluten....
