There are plenty of new people starting every day - dont feel overwhelmed, just read a lot and get a good understanding of what the whole 30 is, what you can and can't have, and glue the meal template in to your brain :)

I'd suggest having a few "warm up" days - days where you try to follow the template for 3 meals a day. You can gauge portion sizes, omit any sneaky non-compliant foods, and get used to what you'll be doing :)

As others have said, the book is not required, but is very helpful.
