JayneNZ
Hello everyone from Christchurch, NZ. I am really nervous about committing to this as I am a very dedicated committment-phobe! I seem to be able to conjure up all sorts of valid reasons to sabotage anything I do that would result in a healthier me. I have already been eating 'sort of' paleo for about 6 months now (no pasta, rice, bread) but I LOVE dairy and while I don't exactly have a sweet tooth (more savoury) I do have sugar in my drinks. But my biggest demon of late would have to be alcohol. Red wine to be exact, and before anyone suggests that red wine is not too bad - I would like to say "Not in the quantities that I scarf it down a night" lol So, Day 1 is here!! I have had scrambled eggs on silver-beet with mayo and a cup of tea (NO sugar & coconut milk) and a cup of coffee (NO sugar & coconut milk). So far, so good - but it's only 10:43 hahaha I think I'm going to need some help to make it through the next 30 days - I really, really do want to do it. My main reason is body shape (round is not a nice shape on me!) but I'm also quite curious as to what other benefits this will bring for me. I got my before photos done this morning and jumped on the scale for the last time for 30 days (78.8kg urgh!) I think I will dispense with the measurements as there is only so much body loathing that can happen in one morning!!! If anyone out there has made it through reading to this far - thankyou and if you'd like to buddy up for mutual support that would be awesome! Now what to have for lunch ........... amberino21
hi Jayne! i'm a fellow southern hemisphere girl - but in perth, WA! you can do this - take it one meal at a time - everyone can make the right choices for their next meal - right? your breakfast sounds like a good start (the mayo was homemade or compliant wasn't it?) - you may find that more vegies, especially some carby ones, wouldn't go astray. what did you choose for lunch? JayneNZ
Hi there! Yes the mayo was compliant - I make the Sarah Fragoso mayo - I have for months and wouldn't go back to any kind of store bought mayo for anything - I have it on everything!! I'm just heading out to get some supplies now so I thought I'd just do a nice salad with a boiled egg, some canned salmon (will check the label first) and some mayo. Gonna miss the cheese lol

Darlene
Hey Jayne! You've started strong. You can do this! To find out more about the many benefits of eating this way, I highly recommend the book. It goes into a lot of detail about why the categories of foods we're eliminating can cause a multitude of issues, physiologically and psychologically. The extra weight so many of us carry around is just the most visible sign that our health is not what it could and should be. Even slender folks can (and do!) have problems with blood sugar, leaky gut, hormone imbalances, rampant inflammation, lack of energy, adrenal fatigue, and so on. We're so used to all this and how it makes us feel, we've come to think of it as normal. That makes the majority of society complacent ("Everyone feels this way at this age - it's normal." Ugh.), and I'm convinced that no one eating an unhealthy mainstream diet really has any idea what it feels like to be truly healthy. I know I don't. But I will, and so will you! Do read the book! Knowing how many benefits you're going to get from this besides just weight loss will, I think, be a big help in keeping you motivated during the rough spots. JayneNZ
Thx Darlene I have got and read the book ISWF and found it really interesting. My biggest thing at the moment is reading labels haha and I'm absolutely amazed at how much sugar is in nearly everything! I'm quite anal now as I've been surprised to find sugar listed in things that you wouldn't think would need sugar added to. I have had the book open today looking at the meal map and planning what to buy for the next few days. Lunch turned out to be left-over liver, bacon and onion with the bacon pieces picked out! It was very hard to do but I think bacon is one of the meats that is off the menu for 30 days isn't it?
amberino21
You can have bacon as long as its compliant - it is regarded as a fat source though, so not something you need mountains of anyway I don't eat it, but have looked around and haven't had much luck with anything compliant! Girltony
Hi Jayne...good luck! I'm a few hours behind you in the UK but I'm starting today as well . Red wine is a big deal for me too. We'll manage! Well done for committing to this thing.
Darlene
The problem with bacon is that it nearly always has sugar in it. It also needs to be from pastured pork, in order to be healthy. I haven't been able to find a good source, myself. There's some online, but it's more expensive than I can handle.
