Starting August 6 (tomorrow) anyone want to do this with me?

I started this two weeks ago, just in time for vacationers to come and stay with us. Needless to say, I set myself up for munching on the wrong stuff- so they leave in the morning and I am starting all over.

Good Luck today!  We can do this, I think the first days will be the hardest for all of us.  I slowly sipped my glass of wine last night, knowing it will be a bit before I can enjoy one again!

What are the different reasons that you all are doing this?  I tend to get gut aches and headaches, and I feel spacey and fatigued a good bit of my days- I am hoping to find the root of those symptoms, and I am 40 lbs overweight, a borderline diabetic with high cholesterol. GROAN! I am trying to not make my weight the reason for doing this cleanse, but to focus more on my health.

Sure enough, last night I had a dream that I was eating cereal with chocolate almond milk (which I have never, ever ever done... nor have I had cereal in months!). Once I realized the milk had sugar, I was like ehhhh wellllllll, I'll start Whole30 tomorrow instead. The guilt when I wake up after having cheat dreams is palpable!

I - like most people - have numerous reasons for wanting to complete a Whole30. I'd like to lose weight, of course, but I am trying to focus more on health than that. Recently, because of poor adherence to paleo, I've had numerous weird symptoms like swollen lymph nodes, cysts cropping up out of nowhere, and canker sores. I know it's all diet related... It starts with food, as we say. I also have challenges with depression, anxiety, and OCD. I know I fare better on a low-carb way of eating, but I would like to see if eating strict paleo can alleviate some of these issues. I have never really given it a fair shake. This is like my fifth attempt or something. Each time I make it a little longer, but really... I want to do this.

I'm in ladies and gents....I have been eating compliant with the program since Sunday, but my official start day with the 30 day emails was today!  I just keep thinking about the junk that will be cleared from my body and feel healthy and full of energy.  Let's do this!!

I am on day 2. Feeling the hangover already. How is your day ladies?

Doing this because since baby was born I hv relied in sugar for energy to keep up with the sleep deprivation. Besides I hv fibromyalgia and lots of postpartum knee pain. Found out postpartum tireodites too... Well so many issues!

Mainly doing for my son, I want to hv energy and play lots with him once he starts walking (should b pretty soon). ;)

How is everyone doing on day 3?  I totally laughed at the sleepy bear video that was sent with the support emails- I can relate, although the food bowl that he is falling asleep over is my computer desk here at work.  I read that our immunities are down this first week, and I have gotten myself a nasty respiratory infection, I am not sure if my fatigue is carb-flu or if I have the real thing.

Hi everyone! I'm happily on day 3, though already my first 2 days were incredibly trying. Baseball game on day 1, surrounded by garlic fries and ice cream cones, and then free pizza from the best place in town being offered to me for both lunch and dinner yesterday. Can't catch a break! I stayed strong, but I think all this extra resisting has led to early-onset cheating dreams. Last night I had my first classic W30 dream of the month... I'm eating something non-compliant, and midway through I look down and realize, crap! I'm supposed to be on a Whole 30! I didn't mean to cheat, I just forgot! Everything is ruined! I love waking up from those and shaking off the guilt when I realize they weren't real.

So far I'm feeling good. This is my 3rd W30 this year, but I always go majorly off-track in between (I don't seem to have any serious food allergies, which enables my bad behavior). I've definitely found that the 2nd and 3rd ones were MUCH easier to adjust to in the beginning, despite my non-plan eating between.

Day 4 for me! To encourage compliance, I loaded up on some grass-fed steak they had at Whole Foods for 6.99 a pound... That's seriously not a bad price. I also got hanger steak, which I've never cooked before, but god, it looks good.  Dinner tomorrow? I think so. I had steak, homemade peach salsa my roommate made from the peaches in our backyard (SO GOOD), kimchee, and a sweet potato with coco'mon curry coconut oil on it since I lifted this morning. Delicious way to start the day.

There have been a few trying moments (my friends have asked me repeatedly to go get drinks with them after work the past couple days, to which I reply "....stillllll not drinking...", but honestly, this time around has been much easier for me than the past attempts.

I have a new couple reasons to stay focused: I have developed a couple cysts in the past two weeks.  From what I understand, some people are simply more prone to developing them.  I have gotten them since I was 11-12, but I never knew that's what they were until I recently figured it out.  I do notice I develop them more when I eat non-paleo stuff, especially dairy, corn, and wheat.  There may be more triggers, but I really don't think I want to go through the trouble of re-introducing other grains since I don't actually like them that much.  Anyway, back to the cysts: I really want to avoid surgery. If through my diet I can shrink them or cause them to disappear altogether, I'll eat whole30 all the freaking time. Cysts hurt, man. No joke. And if they get infected? Nasty, nasty stuff.  What's more, surgery isn't even a guarantee they won't come back.

Also, my skin on my nose/chin has been peeling for a few months. It has naught to do with sun exposure or anything like that. I have read that eggs can contribute to eczema/psoriasis symptoms, and I know that I have a sensitivity to them, so I am avoiding them for this whole30 to see how my skin reacts.

I'm so glad to read all of your posts! I enjoy talking with you all; it gives me something to look forward to during the days to come. Have a great day, all! Talk to you later!
