healthyAbby
So I've been thinking about sugaring vs waxing vs shaving and I really want to try sugaring. Does anyone have any thoughts, ever done it themselves? The recipe to make the sugar "wax" is just table sugar, lemon juice and water. I really like that it doesn't contain any chemicals and that its something I can make myself. So much better than the shave gel, body wash etc that I use when shaving. Link to comment
sheba-kitty
I have used sugar scrubs for exfoliating. But not for shaving. How does that work? Are you just scrubbing until the hair is gone. That sounds like it would hurt. Link to comment
amberino21
I don't understand how that works either! Link to comment
healthyAbby
The sugar becomes like a puddy/paste that you then take off like waxing. Link to comment
Xandra
So basically, you're waxing with caramels? Seems like a good use for them. Link to comment
amberino21
So you heat it/cook it? That'd get exceptionally hot wouldn't it? Or too hard to spread when its cool enough to apply? Link to comment
Xandra
Professional wax is always warm, too. You have to spread it on, but yes, it has to be cool enough not to burn you. Link to comment
Guest
I had it done long ago. I seem to remember that it was supposed to be more gentle than wax; perhaps that the wax sticks to skin, but sugar does not. Hmmm...interesting that I just saw a really funny post about waxing on Facebook. Maybe you will be the pioneer who reports back to us. Link to comment
MrsRobinson
I haven't had good luck with the sugaring stuff. I just get Gigi Stripless microwave wax, which is about $8 at Sally Beauty Supply, works great and isn't harsh. Link to comment
healthyAbby
I'd be afraid I'd eat it. Lol... My mother did this a few years ago, and since I'm on blood thinners and been nicking myself a lot more lately, I thought it might be good. I like the idea of using something that has simple ingredients that is free of chemicals since I have super sensitive skin. Link to comment
Renee Lee
Abby, sorry but I'm going to close this thread. This isn't really related to a Whole30 at all, so it's beyond the scope of our forum. Thanks! Link to comment
