Bethany Lannon
I have my 20-miler this weekend, on Saturday --- wondering when I should start carb-loading with the starchy veg's prior to this (& on race day)? I'm thinking at least tomorrow, if not tonight, with maybe 1/2 sweet potato at each meal. I want to start enough in advance that I reap the benefits but not too soon that I have a negative effect of over-eating starchy veg's.
Moderators Tom Denham Posted August 21, 2013 Moderators Share Posted August 21, 2013 I don't think there is any negative effect of over-eating sweet potatoes unless doing so stops you from getting a good variety of other veggies.
Colleen Roy
I agree with Tom- a half a sweet potato along with other veggies at meal will load you up! Good luck!!!
Physibeth
The conventional wisdom I've been reading lately seems to say to load up the night before the night before and go easy the day before to get your stores up without putting yourself in potential digestive stress on race day. I think there was an article that addressed that in Runner's World recently actually.
Bethany Lannon
Thanks everyone... That all helps. The post-w30/paleo/clean lifestyle is still fairly new, especially while training like I am with the new dietary lifestyle... Little details get me all caught up & I tend to over-analyze. Thanks again!
