Happyfeet Posted August 22, 2013 Share Posted August 22, 2013 Hi all! I am totally new to the Whole30 and indeed paleo eating in general. I'm finding this website very helpful so far . I tried a few paleo meals some weeks ago and liked them (bought the Well Fed book!) and decided I would do the Whole30 in September but then thought to hell with it and started straight away! I'm on Day 13 now and have been 100% compliant (exception for medication which I posted a separate thread about). So far so good! So what's the problem? Well, I've totally lost my mojo . Woke up this morning and immediately knew I didn't want breakfast. I felt awful. Ate some scrambled egg fried in coconut oil and some sweet potato but that's all I could face. For lunch I had last nights leftovers. It tasted gorgeous last night and I normally like leftovers but I could barely stomach this. And just a while ago, I was cooking some chicken for this evenings meal and the smell off the coconut nearly made me barf . I'm so annoyed. I was doing so well and now I feel like it's all going to go wrong. I want chocolate and I want an ice cream!!! Please tell me I'll get over this. Natalie M. Posted August 22, 2013 Share Posted August 22, 2013 You will. I went through that, too, and having more carbs, and more sour/spicy flavors helped me. That, and looking for something totally different from what I was eating every day. I like to have refined coconut oil on hand for when I just don't want that coconut flavor/aroma in my food. My local Wal-Mart carries organic refined CO, so it shouldn't be hard to find. Push through it, I think you'll be glad you did. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I just read another thread on here that sent me running out to my kitchen and sure enough my chinese 5 spice contains sugar . So that means last nights meal was non-compliant due to the 5 spice! Physibeth Posted August 22, 2013 Share Posted August 22, 2013 Another option is to just extend the no-sugar part of your whole 30 the appropriate number of days. It just means you need to be careful on your introductions to ensure still sugar free which I personally think is a good idea anyway (others will say it doesn't matter). Feeling much better today and had a yummy breakfast of chicken, egg, onion, red pepper, broccoli and cherry tomatoes all thrown on the pan and fried in coconut oil with half an avo on top. Will keep going with it and you never know I might just keep going! :-) Quick question though! You know the meal template says 1 thumb size of fat per meal. Would that be a thumbful of coconut oil (for example) in its solid form. That seems like a lot! Also how much of the half avocado would be considered fat?
