divadaisy86
Hi all, I am starting my first Whole 30 today! I am incredibly nervous and would love some company along the way if anyone else is starting today too! I have always struggled with my weight and constantly been on and off diets for about 10 years. Therefore, I believe my digestive system is pretty out of whack considering what I have been putting it through. I am hoping this experience will help heal my body and make me a healthier person. Just a little bit about me... I am 27, married almost a year. My husband will not be completing the Whole30 with me but will usually eat what I make for dinner so that is helpful. However there are still oreos in my pantry... I have a pretty sedentary job. I don't get to do a lot of moving throughout the day but I do generally workout about 6 times a week. I completed Insanity a month ago and restarted that workout program two weeks ago. So I will also be completing that exercise program for the second time while doing my first Whole30. I am by no means in super great shape. I am overweight by 24 pounds, which is an improvement as I was about 8 pounds heavier two months ago. I really want this to be a success! ginsinnot
Welcome Manda! I'm actually on Day 18 of my 2nd W30 (first was last year in September). The first time my husband wasn't really on board either, and that can have it's own challenges (like the oreos in the cupboard). I'd try putting all the non-W30 foods up high in the cupboard or in a specific part of the fridge. Maybe add a sign for moments of weakness "DO NOT DO IT" You'll find a lot of really great support here on the forum. I highly recommend signing up for the daily emails. Even if they're a day behind, they're chock full of really great information and resources and there's something so satisfying about clicking the "I did it" link at the end of each day. I really think they helped me make my first W30 a success. I'm a big believer in visual reminders, so I printed the meal template and taped it on my fridge and pantry doors. For me, any time it seemed hard to keep at it, it was generally because I didn't get enough fat in the last meal. Sugar is/was my Achilles heel, so I limit myself to fruit with meals. Except apples, which I'll eat as a snack with nut butter and a hardboiled egg. I have Crohns Disease, and my first Whole30 was a serious life-changer for me. So it can certainly help with digestive issues, in my experience. Good luck, I think you'll really enjoy the process and the results.
divadaisy86
Thanks for all the wonderful advice! I think it will be extremely helpful! Luckily I did sign up for the emails so I received my Day 1 this morning! I can't wait to click the "I did it" link tonight! I have already cleared out the middle shelf in our pantry for all my Whole 30 approved foods. I am pretty short so the shelf is in the perfect spot for me to immediately grab my items versus having to look at the Hubs' food. I do believe I will make some sticky notes to place on his really tempting food. That is an excellent suggestion!I also really liked your snack idea. I was trying to think of a mini meal I could eat at the end of my work day before I hit the gym. I wanted something more than just a handful of nuts. Boiled eggs would be easy to keep in the fridge at work and ready when I am! I also love some apples and nut butter so I might throw them into the rotation with the hardboiled egg and some veggies a couple times a week. Thanks again for the great advice! I am really looking forward to this! Good luck with your last 12 days!

Your preWO should be protein and fats - skip the apple, and the vegies!! it's not a mini meal per se, just something to give your body a kickstart in to exercise. the HB egg/s would be perfect! Save the carbs for postWO - and go for starchy vegies over fruit, things like sweet potato, pumpkin, carrots, beetroot etc

kate32
Hi Manda, I started on the 29th as well. How's it going so far? I havent hit the hangover phase yet and don't know if that's good or bad! My husband is doing this with me which is great, but our kids (1 and 3) are not, so I've still kept some of their staples around. I just don't even look at them. The hardest part is probably remembering not to lick the knife after making a pb&j. Good luck to you today!
