Long-haul flight

Hi everyone, I am planning a trip and the flight will take more than 8 hours.. Do you have some tips how to stay compliant at the airport and on board? I am sure that the food on board will be more or less (rather more) rubbish. Do you pack something with you on board? I find it pretty difficult with all the restrictions and security controls

Thanks!!

I've found it easy to bring food through security and onto planes--in fact, the outgoing flight is usually the easiest part of travel for me, food-wise. Just pack a lunch like you would bring to work and carry it in your carryon. Avoid things that could be considered "liquids" or "jells" (or just pack those in the baggie with your toiletries) and you should be good to go. I've brought things like jerky/raw veggies/hard boiled eggs/fruit, etc, but I've also brought more meal-like things, like kale salad or roast chicken breast or meatballs or whatever. All has been fine. I have heard that some people have issues with jell-based ice packs, so try for something that can stay at room temp for a while.

EDIT: nom nom paleo has posted airport/airplane meals a few times, so you might want to look around her site for tips and ideas too.

On my last long flight, I brought almond butter packets (I put them in my bag of allowable liquids to get through security), apples, jerky, a can of tuna, hard boiled eggs, homemade larabars, and raw vegetables that I had pre-cut up.  My boyfriend and I were so happy that I had packed as much as I did because our 10 hour travel time turned into more than 14 hours with the delays from our layover.  W30 is totally do-able while flying, it just takes a little more planning.  Good luck!  :-)
