September Whole30!

I've been cooking/eating Paleo for a couple months now and plan to start the Whole30 on Monday, September 2nd!

I'm 24 years old and have suffered from chronic migraines for about 10 years. I've seen so many doctors and tried more prescriptions than I can remember at this point. I hate that these headaches have defined my life for so long and I'm hoping that changing my diet will finally give me the relief I have been looking for. I'm excited to challenge myself.

Any tips, suggestions, recipes, or advice is absolutely welcome. I know I will need it. I'm usually a healthy eater, but also a chocolate addict, so I know it's going to be tough... I already warned my boyfriend : )

Anybody else starting in September?? Let's do this!

My daughter (16)!and I are starting September 2. I've been wheat and gluten free for a year. I was able to stop one of my migraine preventatives, I was on two twice a day. I still have at least one migraine a month but feel better being off the beta blocker. I hope to get off the other preventative by doing the Whole30. My daughter has been mostly wheat free since December 26 and has had less headaches.

I think it takes doing something as "radical" and healthy and strict as Whole30 to clean out our bodies and have a chance to see what is actually causing the migraines. My neurologist calls a migraine the perfect storm. A combo of stress, what you are eating and environment that sets it off. I don't seem to have any one item that is consistently a trigger.

I would suggest cutting the chocolate now, as in today! You'll have some withdrawals but you'll be able to process them a little before the other big changes. Just my suggestion. I love chocolate also.

Good luck and let's cheer one another on.

I'm starting 9/2 as well.  Cannot wait!  Did some pre-shopping yesterday to add some stuff to the pantry.  Will get more veggies/meats on Saturday.

I'm also a chocaholic, so this will be tough for me as well.  I did a mostly paleo diet for several months, but when I got laid off in May & started at a new company shortly after, I relapsed on the grains. Next thing I knew, my weight loss & stagnate & I'm experiencing the standard inflammation issues related to gluten & sugar.  I do it to myself...

Can't wait to check in w/you ladies!

I just read though 13 pages of messages on the August 12 post. It was great how everyone cheered each other on, shared recipes, shared difficulties, etc. I'm looking forward to this group doing the same.

I got the Well Fed book last week. It has great recipes. I'm going through all my recipes, I keep them in Evernote, and marking which ones are Whole30 compliant so I can easily filter out just the ones we can use.

I've tried a few recipes this week and my family has liked them.

What else are you doing to prepare?

Hi everybody! Love the support we all have for eachother!

I read through "It Starts With Food" this weekend while I was camping and I have a few paleo recipe books that I'm excited to utilize. So far I have Primal Cravings, Practical Paleo, and Beyond Bacon. My next book is Against All Grain. Anybody else have any favorite recipes or books?

I went to the store yesterday and stocked up on food for the week. I still feel great and excited about it. Hopefully I'll remember this feeling over the next 30 days. :-)

Hi. My name is Cheryl, my husband and I have started the whole30 "clense" (don't you dare tell him its a diet! Lol) today. We're junk food junkies. I am doing this in hopes that it will be a lifestyle change. We come from southern families and healthy eating just isn't the way we do things down south. :P But I grew up with a healthy role model and realize that I need to get back on track. I'm tired of feeling tired... and my husband has a whole slew of problems healthwise that I'm hoping will lessen with this lifestyle change. My fridge is packed, I'm geared to go, husband on board! :) So far today I've done good, but have had 3 serious soda cravings. Cant wait to kick this sugar addiction! Good luck ya'll!
