kotten7
Hi! I am aware of the Kellymom/La Leche, etc. info that cruciferous veggies don't bother babies. My midwife, however, has told me to limit cabbage, brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, onions, etc. While I have been avoiding them for 3.5 months, I am curious about others experiences with eating them while breastfeeding. Do they bother your babes? I want to say again that I am aware of the advice given by Kellymom and La Leche that it doesn't matter. I just miss those veggies so much and am tired of mixed greens, kale, summer squash, tomatoes, cucumber, etc. Is anyone else out there avoiding that stuff? I totally love and trust my midwife, as she has many many years of experience. Thanks!
Bethany Lannon
I would give them a shot and see if they affect your baby. I am EBF my 5.5 month old and I eat all of those veggies that you listed on a daily basis, if not 2-3x per day. I say go for it.
Jenncj
Never had a problem with any foods with either of my babes... Except dairy. Eat, eat, eat! Especially after the first few months their bellies can handle everything so much better. Good luck and enjoy
SaraP
The only thing my baby had an issue with was dairy. We had no trouble with any of the others, although I rarely ate cabbage. I would introduce each one back into your diet slowly and see what happens.
Boykinbaby
we've never had any food issues and my girl is still BF at 10 months and i've had all those veggies almost everyday since she was born
Ravin
No issues with either of mine with veggies. My eldest did have an egg allergy, discovered at 2.5, and I eliminated in both our diets, ending her postnasal drip and random vomiting.
kate32
Agree with previous posters - no need to exclude or limit them unless you've notice your baby having issues. Yay for breastfeeding!
kotten7
Thanks everyone! I am making Melissa Joulwan's Cauliflower Soup today with a wee bit of onion. Let's see how my babe responds to it...I want her to get used to the tastes of all these veggies sooner rather than later!
ajclemons5
i would introduce them to your diet the way you would baby food...one at a time for a few days. That way if your babe does have an upset tummy you will be able to tell which veggie caused it and avoid that one specifically.
