I am only on Day 10. I am unexpectedly traveling for work this week with five other people and today we had to be at the client site at 6:30 am. We stopped for coffee but no food. I had a Lara bar and one of those squeezy packs of pureed fruit at 7 am. But by 10:30 I was really hungry again so I had another Lara bar -- but this one had tapioca syrup and honey in it. Do I need to start over? I still feel I am in the spirit of Whole30. Thanks for the support. ~Fran

Larabar and baby food packets are the reason you were hungry by 1030 and eating another Larabar is going to leave you hungry again before lunch. These are massive hits of sugar to your bloodstream, especially after a night of fasting. I say this so that you understand why you are experiencing this.  If you continue this way for the next week, you are likely going to feel horrible by the end.  :(

That said, you can read the "Do I Have to Start Over" article linked below and decide for yourself.

I have had a lot of success keeping to the plan this week -- I called to the hotel before we arrived and spoke with the chef, I've been able to purchase great lunches, etc. It was just this one morning that made it hard to plan ahead. You are totally right, I have had a lot more energy this week than I usually do when I travel, and I am sure it's due to three full meals a day, lots of water, enough sleep, and supportive co-workers.

Thanks for pointing me to the article, which I had read but it was good to read again. I was looking for a scientific answer to the impact of the introduction of a hidden sugar into my elimination -- and the answer was in there. One other thing I have been wondering about as I travel is that I can't always control if there are sulfites in my food -- is there an article for dealing with that unknown? I also don't yet understand what impact sulfites have on the body. Thanks, Fran
