Day One Has Been a Success!

I started the Whole 30 today and I'm a bit nervous but mostly excited!  My reason for starting the Whole 30 is because I feel like my body, mind, and spirit needs to be re-set.  The last few of years have been stressful and I haven't taken the greatest care of myself despite some medical issues.  I want my energy and optimism back and I want to feel like I have some control over my health!  My biggest challenge will be not being able to drink red wine for 30 days but it will be worth it because I really can't wait to feel like myself again, it's strange, but I kind of feel homesick for the former me.

I tried the South Beach diet several years ago but only made it to day 10 without carbs, my knees buckled out from under me, I picked myself up and ate 4 bowls of Lucky Charms and felt fabulous!  At least with the Whole 30 I can eat fruit and high carb veggies, which I hope will help ward off any falls or fainting….

Good luck to everyone!

I have found the wine thing is a consistent and challenging issue for many.  I read and re-read the forum on "I love Wine."  It helps.  I am on Day 16 and I promise you, anyone can do this if I can.  I love how I feel in the morning and the weight has just melted off.  I remind myself that people are doing this all over the world.  Why not me also?  Believe me it is really worth it.  Good luck!

Should we start a former winos support group? It was nice to unwind with, but my sleep was poor, I would wake up with headaches and now that I'm breastfeeding it's not the best for our health. I'm on day 3 and doing great. I have been off and on paleo for about 2 years when I realized I needed more energy to keep up with my now 3 yo.

I think that preparation and a large collection of recipes is going to be key to my success!

I'm starting day 4 and I'm feeling pretty good!  Last night I slept 9 hours and didn't wake up once and I had dreams, which I haven't had for a while.

Thank you for suggesting the "I love wine" forum, that really did help, I really am not alone on that one.  I'm doing way better than I thought not having wine at night but I am a litle concerned now that it's the weekend...but, my new bf said he is going to start the Whole 30, or at least a detox with me tomorrow.

Yes, the first weekend is tough.  Having a supportive mate will make all the difference in the world.  My plan was to do something different  so we started the netflix series, House of Cards.  It has been a life saver.  We eat early and settle into it.   Makes the evenings fly.  I also cut off all ties with drinking friends during this month.  That helped also.  Good luck this weekend!  It is so worth it.
