citlallypop
I would LOVE to start my Whole30, I'm 9 weeks pregnant & unfortunately the foods that sound delicious are full of carbs, sodium or sugar 😔 Chicken & lettuce are not my friends @ this time. Sadly as much as I've tried, i seem to have lost my will power. I need some help, advise & ,motivation. I'm shooting to just do it cold turkey beginning tomorrow, I'm excited because I really want what's best for my baby, my family & I. My husband & have done it once before we felt great & energized while eating this way. My husband was able to get off his diabetic meds & lost a healthy amount of weight. Unfortunately we slowly began getting bad to our old eating habits which we both have acknowledge have to change, specially because we want to teach our 2 year old how to be nutritious. Please advise & post any ideas on foods/snacks without chicken or beef. Also anything that might help with my sugar cravings.
amberino21
As you're pregnant, you may do well with 4 meals instead of 3 to make sure you're getting lots of nutrients. Making sure all your meals fit the template (and include starchy carbs regularly) should help you feel satisfied and stop you needing the sugar. In terms of helping the cravings, I'd say use willpower and say no to the dragon! I'm sure once you start, feeling better, along with the knowledge that you're doing good for you and your baby, will make continuing easier. In terms of protein sources, try turkey, lamb, pork, eggs, fish

ajclemons5
Oh gosh, my first 14 weeks were terrible!! All i wanted to eat was goldfish crackers and grilled cheese sandwiches, and this was after eating a fairly W30 compliant diet for almost a year. I never thought i would crave those things again...then I got pregnant. I definitely gave into my cravings as long as they were still nutrient dense. I would eat popcorn instead of potato chips if I was craving something salty. After I got past the nausea and crazy cravings, I was able to get back on track with W30. I am 33 weeks along and follow the 80/20 rule (compliant 80% of the time). I plan to do a W30 for my last 4 weeks. For whatever reason, I'm totally craving dairy now so I haven't done a W30 since week 20. I just try to listen to my body and make decent choices. I think if you can get yourself past the first tri doing what you need to, you'll be able to get back on track relatively quickly. Good Luck!
