JessicaD
Hello Everyone. I'm new to Whole9 and this is my very first Whole30. I started September 1st and have successfully maintained full compliance since then. Today is day 6 and I'm already pretty proud of myself. A little bit about me: I just turned 26, and have followed paleo on and off since last December. The last few months it's been mostly off though. Decided to do a Whole30 in order to take control of my life and my health. The only real problem I've experienced so far are the persistent headaches. They seem to just stay weak enough not to be truly painful, but they are just painful enough to be annoying. I decided to eliminate caffeine as well (I work at Starbucks and 6 shots of espresso stopped working so I decided a reset was in order), so I figure that's not helping the headache. My only real fear and concern is eating out. I've got my Dad's birthday dinner this weekend and I'm nervous about eating out. I may not even eat anywhere we go, because I'm officially completely distrusting of EVERYTHING I don't make myself. Anybody else out there that started September 1st, or also dealing with these pesky headaches?
Physibeth
Caffeine withdrawal can definitely be causing the headaches. Hang in there and they will pass. I chose not to eat out on my W30 (and planned the timing so I wouldn't have to) but it can be done. There is lots of good advice sprinkled all over the boards. Find out where you are going ahead of time and if need be call the restaurant ahead of time to ask all your questions. If you are polite the waitstaff and cooks usually can be very helpful. I usually state before I start ordering that I'm going to be a little high maintenance because I'm trying to avoid certain things just to warn the server that he/she needs extra listening ears for me. You can do this and it will be worth it! Go get it!
JessicaD
Thanks Physibeth! I actually started drinking a glass of iced green tea to try and quell the caffeine headache, but it appears to be the other detoxing that I'm doing as well. I know it will pass so I'm just hanging on. I am actually prone to really nasty headaches, so this isn't anything new. Actually hoping the Whole30 may help with that. I'm actually thinking of just eating a nice dinner (or lunch) before hand and then having some iced water while there. I've found some good tips through the boards, but I'm super paranoid about getting something unapproved (I totally know I'm over thinking this). So I think I'm just going to skip the eating out for my Whole30 as you did.
