Ideas for healthier dips for veggies?

I am doing my first Whole 30 for my health. It is just me, but I am cooking more paleo for dinner. However, at lunch my kids are often happy to snack on veggies with "dip" (ranch dressing). I see it as a small are I could make a change and there would not be too much push back. So....

Suggestions or ideas and resources....

Thanks.

We make yummy dips with spinach/herbs, nuts and a bit of olive oil. you could also use roast capsicum or pumpkin/sweet potato.

beetroot dip is nice as well - you could add a bit of homemade mayo to make it creamier.

could you serve it with chicken "fingers", HB eggs or other easy, compliant meat to bump up their protein too?

I have to second "Well Fed" 's recipes for ranch and creamy italian dressing http://www.theclothesmakethegirl.com/2011/01/25/tangy-goodness-creamy-italian-dressing/, I am addicted to those! They are so good! Every week I make homemade mayo, and then mix it up with different sauces. The other sauces in the book are delicious. My kids loved the Baba Ghanoush as well http://www.theclothesmakethegirl.com/2009/07/17/eat-your-vegetables-eggplant/.  Also, there a version Ina Garten has with red bell pepper and it is delicious. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/roasted-eggplant-spread-recipe/index.html.
