Ag04
Hello! Today is day 5 of my whole30. I decided to take on the whole30 because I have battled an unhealthy sweet tooth my entire life. I recently got off a thyroid medication with the intent to fix my eating habits/thyroid hormone naturally instead of with medication. My only concern with the whole30 is expected weight loss. I am barely 100lbs to begin with. I am nursing my 15month old son and really cant afford to lose any more weight. How do I manage this while on the whole30? I know I will probably lose a couple of pounds because I have cut out all the sweets I was eating before. I just don't want to lose too many. Thanks! amberino21
Hi Ag - not everyone loses on the whole 30! Many do but it's not designed as a weight loss program. As you're feeding, and not wanting to lose weight, I'd recommend eating more meals. Try 5-6! They should all fit the template, having protein/fats/vegies. Include plenty of fats, and starchy carbs (unless this is detrimental to your thyroid issue)
Mom2A&M
You can eat 4 meals or 5 meals instead of 3. LOTS of healthy fats and carbohydrate rich veggies.
Ag04
Thanks! I already added a meal yesterday because I felt too hungry! I'll try that!
Moderators Tom Denham Posted September 7, 2013 Moderators Share Posted September 7, 2013 You can gain weight by adding fat to all meals. I scramble whole eggs with a big tablespoon of ghee - fat in eggs, fat in ghee. Add nuts to stir fries to increase the fat content of meat and veggie dishes. I make salmon salad just like tuna salad, only salmon is a little more substantial than tuna. Add a boiled egg for more fat. Add a can of good olives to the mix to boost the fat content higher. Once you get the hang of adding fat to meals, you don't have to worry about losing weight. Fat is the most variable part of Whole30 eating. Everyone, including people who need to lose weight, need to eat a base line of fat at every meal, but if you want to gain weight, you can easily up the fat content of meals.
