Meridith Wolnick
All, I'm new to the Whole 30 and my family is on the third day. So far things are going swimmingly and I'm beginning to question the purpose of having brownies every night (a common occurrence pre-whole 30). Seriously. What were we thinking?! That said, I'm wondering if there's an explanation for my feeling very cold. I generally am not a chilly sort, but this is clearly not a cold or too much AC etc. Has anyone else run into this? Is there an explanation for it? I'm also quite nauseous when eating, but I'm seeing lots of questions and answers about that in other posts. I'll grab a sweater and liberally apply peppermint tea in the meantime! Thanks for your thoughts!
Snicci
Brownie withdrawals? I am no expert, but it does sound like withdrawal symptoms of some sort? Sugar maybe?
hobbitgirl
Well, I notice I'm cold too, but I also notice that I like my beverages VERY cold and with ice. Are you drinking iced beverages? That will make you chilly.
Renee Lee
It could be because your carb intake dropped significantly, maybe even too much. Carb consumption is very closely linked to thyroid function, which controls body temperature (and metabolism, and other stuff). So going too low can mess with that, and slow everything down. How's your carb intake? Are you eating starchy veggies?
Sundance
Low cortisol levels (adrenal insufficiency) can also cause low body temps and chills.
Meridith Wolnick
No starchy veg - perhaps that's it. Cauliflower is on the docket for tonight. Does that count? Otherwise, most carbs have been coming from fruit and veg (broccoli, snow peas, peppers, spinach and so forth). Sweet potatoes for tomorrow! I also upped the hot tea intake so I'm attacking from all angles!
Renee Lee
Cauliflower is not a starchy veg! get some sweet potatoes, squashes, beets and carrots into your diet! Fruits are good too, but veggies first!
Meridith Wolnick
I didn't think so! I apparently don't like starchy veg I will now though!
Meg Hamilton
Meredith--look at your tea boxes too, I saw here yesterday that some tea has SOY lecithin in it!! I checked at home and two of my four boxes were guilty!!!!! I googled it and they do it to keep the ingredients from separating. Here I thought that's what the tea bag was for.
