MELYMOM
I am on day 11 of my Whole 30. My skin started to get very dry, almost scaly the last couple of days. I am getting planty of fats and fluids, Does anyone have ideas on what would cause this? or how I can improve it? Thanks
Leif_in_Alaska
Unfortunately I have no advice as my experience at day 14 is the opposite. I've never been prone to acne, but my skin is very oily and had a big, full body acne breakout. My skin is also very weak - shaving has become a bloody mess! Edit: just read a few older posts. It would appear that coconut products, coffee, and the introduction of different types of fat (e.g. almond butter) have been linked by others to skin conditions. There was a mention of hormonal rebalancing as well. While the context was directed toward acne, there will be a learning process about how your body reacts to different foods (or the lack thereof). Bet
Sometimes scaly skin is dead skin on the surface that needs to be exfoliated. I had horribly scaly skin on my arms and legs. When we went on vacation, I spent a lot of time in the hot tub at the hotel. When I took a shower afterwards, the dead scaly skin came right off! It was kind of gross, but afterwards my skin was very smooth and not dry at all. So if you don't have a hot tub, a hot epsom salt bath can also do the trick. And make sure you are eating enough good fats.
