IdaN
I love black olives, but it's almost impossible to find any kind without sodium nitrite (E250) or iron gluconate (E579). Is it sufficient to just rinse the olives thoroughly before I eat them, or do they absolutely need to be in a pure water/salt blend?
GFChris
Both those ingredients are ok on a Whole30, so no need to rinse. Do you like kalamata olives? I recently bought a jar of Pastene brand and they're only in water, salt, red wine vinegar and lactic acid.
IdaN
Thank you! But I thought all additives besides citric acid and vinegar were out? I like the "regular" black ones better than kalamata, and if those E's are compliant there's plenty of them in my local store
GFChris
No, it's not all additives. The ones that are called out as not allowed on a Whole30 are MSG, carrageenan and sulfites.
hope4
Lindsay's makes a "Natural" olive line... they have green and black both only in water and salt. The green ones taste like black ones though. I found them at Walmart if that helps.
