ZO4
What brand of coconut can you have? All I have seen is canned. Is an unsweetened brand like so delicous okay?
Moderators ShannonM816 Posted September 29, 2013 Moderators Share Posted September 29, 2013 The So Delicious ones I looked at had carageenan in it, which I'm pretty sure was one of the things to avoid on Whole30. I bought A Taste of Thai canned coconut milk at Target, it only has coconut, water, and guar gum, but I've seen people post that they've found some that only have coconut & water. I didn't feel like driving 45 minutes to Whole Foods or Central Market just to find that for a couple of recipes.
missmary
so delicious is not ok because it has carrageenan in it (plus lots of other crap). Find a container with just coconut milk in it, or, if you can't, one with minimal added ingredients that don't include anything that isn't allowed (carrageenan and sulfites are the usual suspects). guar gum is an acceptable additive. Mom2A&M
The canned is the one you want. The "drink" in a carton isn't.

Vian
Try an asian market. I found Aroy-D brand coconut milk in cans AND IN CARDBOARD CARTONS that have nothing but coconut milk (either 60% or 70%) and water, PLUS it's way cheaper than taste of thai or thai kitchen or any other brand I've seen besides the nasty trader joe's kind (which tastes weird and watered down and not like coconut at all)
