kahufford
Started yesterday! I'm excited and looking forward to learning through this process and making better life choices. I also hope to get my family involved as I make meals but they are not following this. After feeling hungry a good part of day1, I was told I need more vegetables and fats in every meal. Day2 I'm adding more vegetables and avocados. I'd love to hear suggestions for breakfast meals that don't taste like I'm eating dinner and any suggestions for high protein snacks only if necessary. (Yesterday, I ate cashews twice after trying the "drink water" trick, and was told that if I do need a snack, I should eat a mini meal of protein, fats, and veggies.) Thanks! pjena
Welcome! I eat eggs, kale and a sweet potato with coconut butter almost every day. I really enjoy it. I've seet a lot of posts with sweet potato hash recipes that sound good. Fritattas are popular, too. Both of those are endlessly adaptable to your tastes. Do some searches and you'll find a bunch of recipes/combinations. I'm not good at the snack/mini-meal thing. I try to just make my meals big enough that I don't need anything in between. I keep a few larabars in the freezer at work for emergencies, but try not to rely on those very often. They're not ideal, but better than anything else I can get! At home, if I'm hungry between meals, I eat a bit of leftovers. Or, I usually have hardboiled eggs around, so one of those and some baby carrots and almond butter makes a good/quick mini meal. Kombucha or sparkling water helps me more than plain water if I want to just stave off hunger for a little bit (that hour before dinner...). Good luck! Yes, do you have a copy of the meal template? http://whole9life.com/book/ISWF-Meal-Planning-Template.pdf The advice you got was correct: snacks, if needed, should be a mini-meal including at least a protein and fat. A protein-only snack is only recommended in the case of a pre-workout snack. Besides eggs, salmon, tuna and chicken are among the other options. This is one of my favorite breakfast casseroles. I use rutabaga instead of turnips: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/primal-breakfast-casserole/#axzz2gVF3jVnJ

kahufford
I'm on Day14. I'm thankful that I have been successful and am keeping with the "rules". However, I am feeling the emotions of this 30days much different than I have read others experiences. (I do understand everyone is different, I just didn't expect to be where I am now.) The first week I think I was pumped up, excited, and ready to change my life. However, over the last three days, I feel like I'm breaking down every day. I've had feelings of "this is not doing to do anything for me" or "I hate eating like this" or "I'm not enjoying anything I'm eating." I feel guilty for eating fruits (fresh and dry) and nuts because they are just supposed to be additions, but I still feel like I'm caving in by eating them. And I'm discouraged by the idea of trying to make it with meat and vegetables alone for the next 16days. I'm going to stick to it but am surprised by my emotions at this point. Shouldn't I feel accomplished that I've made it this far and made some great meals for my family? (Meals which I'll keep in my planning post-whole30.) The good news of all of this is I'm finding I find comfort in eating and I find pleasure in eating which means that I eat at unnecessary times. And I know that knowing what I know about whole foods will help make long term changes in how I meal plan in the future and choices that I make for my children. Any encouragement or people who've been here before and enjoyed the rest of the ride?
kahufford
Also, my lips are slightly swollen after testing the temperature of a piece of pizza for my small child. (Still swollen after 3+hrs) Any inclination to reaction - dairy, wheat?
