n9vember
Can I have sugar-free gum in moderation (i.e. post lunch)? I feel like this might be similar to the Listerine question, but wanted to check. When I did a CLEAN cleanse, even sugar-free gum was not allowed. I have some tea tree toothpicks, but I don't feel like they're really doing the trick. Moderators Tom Denham Posted July 18, 2012 Moderators Share Posted July 18, 2012 No. Chewing gum is processed food and not okay during a Whole30. Chewing gum tends to increase cravings. Basically chewing tells your body to get ready to eat. It sends false signals. There have been some long discussions of gum on the site over the years, but I have not been able to find them with a quick search.
n9vember
Darn. I figured as much. I tried a search too, before I asked, but was unable to find anything. Thanks for the response and back to the tea tree toothpicks!
Life More Abundantly
Fennel seeds are a good alternative if you're looking for a natural breath freshener.
hobbitgirl
If it's for after lunch, why not go brush your teeth?
n9vember
Oooh, I love fennel seeds. As for brushing my teeth, sure. But, I was also thinking other random times, too (guilty.)
