miriad
I went through the drive through at Starbucks and ORDERED a blonde drip, black. What I got was some vanilla latte thing that I took a sip of without realizing it wasn't what I ordered (I was driving). I took ONE sip, realized it was sweet, and took it back but I did drink a sip. The hard and fast task master in me is telling me that I need to start over but there's a part of me that's saying "It was just ONE sip! You've been SO good and it wasn't on purpose! You don't need to start over." What does the community say? Do I need to start the counter over OR can I keep rolling on?
Roz Griffiths
I don't think it's a restart. You did your best, & like you say, you stopped as soon as you realised something was wrong. It's not like you ordered a muffin with it
TF86
Miriad, If you stop to think that you are trying to change your entire food lifestyle, how do YOU think that simple mistake affects your progress. Really, if you are going to be feeling really good after 30 days are you really going to jump right back into your old habits. Now, I'm on Day 17 so I don't know much about the program except that I am on it and I believe it's the right thing for me. That said, if I were in your shoes, I would not beat myself up over the mistake. You didn't chug the rest of the drink did you? I didn't think so. This program is for you so do what you think is best. If you get through the first 30 days you'll probably keep going, right? So it really doesn't matter if you "start over" or just keep going. Relax and enjoy the fact that you are taking steps to make yourself healthier and happier. BTW, I'm pretty much a taskmaster for myself too. Every now and again, my wife tells me to relax and live a little.
miriad
Thanks, guys, for the handholding here. I actually got really upset over the whole thing, bith with myself and with the Starbucks. It was a simple mistake on their part but man, did it feel like a HUGE deal to me. But you're right- I didn't drink the rest of the drink and I didn't drink it on purpose, so to keep going isn't actually cheating. Thanks so much. I just needed someone to reassure me. You guys are the best!
