liveit360
I have been in the habit of sitting in front of the tv and eating something (not even hungry) at the end of the day. I finally get the kids in bed and its quiet and its finally 'me time'. I have been able to talk myself into taking a warm bath and reading instead several times (which is actually quite nice) but I can't seem to make it stick! I end up gravitating back to the tv/food habit and eating too much and it actually keeps me from going to bed when I should! If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them
amberino21
Have you tried sipping tea instead? If the tv habit is so tied with eating, I'd switch it off completely and find another activity or go to bed! Staying out of the kitchen might help too
Guest Andria
I find I do the same thing. I also find I look for a snack around 4pm. I have avoided it on occasion, but lately I find myself nibbling on something small. How about some herbal tea with coconut milk? The problem I run into, though, with this is that I don't want to drink a full cup of tea too close to bed. Maybe if you time it to be finished by two hours before your bedtime you won't have to use the restroom in the middle of the night.
liveit360
I will definitley try the tea, thank you. I think I also need to decide earliler in the evening how I am going to relax and start to look forward to something different.

pjena
I had a similar problem. I'd find myself gravitating back to the kitchen at every commercial break. Now, I just don't watch tv. I have a few shows I like, but I watch them online when I'm on my elliptical or treadmill or when I'm doing my Sunday cookup. I still occasionally watch Revenge live on Sunday night, but I'm usually folding piles and piles of laundry so my hands are busy. Instead, if I'm not going to yoga or exercising, I put on my PJs and read in bed. That gets me away from the kitchen and helps me relax. I think if you can find a different way to relax after the kids go to bed, you'll be able to break the habit.
