moets131
Since starting whole 30,I've been reading labels on my food. I never noticed, until recently, that the bags of tilapia I've been buying has carbon monoxide (to preserve color). Is this safe to eat?
Moderators Tom Denham Posted October 17, 2013 Moderators Share Posted October 17, 2013 I guess the government thinks it is safe, but I would not eat it.
moets131
Tom that's my thought. Just wanted other opinions. The fish comes from China where carbon monoxide in fish is banned.
Jinkse21
I stay away from tilapia all-together ever since I saw a documentary about them...little bottom feeders that are pretty much farmed. Ick!
2Texans
I don't eat talapia anymore either, bad stuff. I don't eat any farmed fish at all, nasty stuff. It can be difficult to find wild caught seafood, but it can be done and is usually more expensive. Fresh wild caught salmon is out of season right now (dang) so I eat other fish. moets131
I've recently started eating perch when it's on sale & I believe it is fresh wild caught.
scrapstitching
Whole Foods and Fresh Market carry fresh wild caught fish. I'm sure that other local whole food type stores do too. I've been buying from Fresh Market primarily. I haven't see the documentary about talapia, but have heard about it.
