MissChristian
Hey Everyone! I'll be starting my first Whole30 tomorrow. I've been eating Paleo for about a year now, but lately I've been getting off track. I am a high school teacher and a debate coach, so sometimes I eat what I shouldn't. While eating Paleo, the joint pain in my knees and hips has drastically decreased and it's been wonderful. Not to mention, I do feel a lot more energized and healthy. I really want to do the Whole30 to get myself back on track. And let's not lie, hopefully drop a few pounds before the holidays. AND - I am pretty excited about cutting out alcohol for 30 days, too. Cheese and Wine are my ultimate downfalls. Well, and chocolate. I also like the idea of incorporating a lot more vegetables in my diet. I really don't think I get enough of them. I don't think this will be a super hard transition for me. I see it as a challenge worth taking. SO! I guess I am posting this to see if anyone else is starting their Whole30 this weekend! I'll be going shopping tomorrow and having a cookathon with tons of freezer friendly meals. I like the idea of having this support forum to help keep each other motivated. If anyone wants to join me on this adventure, I would really love your company! Good Luck on your Whole30!
Cath J
Hello! I'm starting today (oct 19, new Zealand time) too. I've been dabbling in primal/paleo for about a year now but certainly not strictly...I have a 3mo and when pregnant/breastfeeding and hunger hits sometimes the closest food has to do. On the positive though the healthier eating has given me great milk supply so my boy sleeps through the night. I have to go off dairy and gluten to feed him anyway (like my other 2 boys he gets eczema when I eat them) so it's the perfect time to go the full hog and do a whole30. Like you, wine is definitely my weakness so have to find a substitute wind down habit. Good luck for your first weekend, Cath
JenniferDiane08
I'm starting on Sunday after my Sunday morning grocery shopping. Cheese and wine are going to be the hardest for me too! My husband laughed when I told him I wasn't going to eat cheese for a month! He knows how much I love it! Wine too... Oh... It's so good once it hits your lips! Di305
I'm starting tomorrow . Dairy is definitely going to be the hardest for me - not so much cheese (although I love it!) but it's milk... One of my favorite activities in the morning is making tea with milk. I'm ready to do this though!

Remember, you have the power to choose what goes in your mouth. Put your own health above others - don't feel bad for offending people by saying no to their food! I work at a school too, and I'd never have achieved my physique/health/comp goals if I said yes to even some of the food waved under my nose every day! lizzie_s
I did a whole 26 in September and have been struggling to get fully back on track since. Several false starts, but I'm joining up with this thread because the support really helps. It shouldn't be difficult, but it is. My pain and gastric distress are back since I went off, and my mood is much worse. So this morning I feel a real sense of "it's time to get clean." Jeez, I sound like a junkie. (Maybe it's the episode of "Breaking Bad" I watched last night. Don't tell me -- I'm only up to Season 3!) But in a way I am like a junkie and need to get read of all the "junk" in my system. Anyway, I hope that checking in here will help me get all the way through this time. Have a great and positive day all!Lizzie

Peevish
Well technically I started yesterday (18th) but I started at lunchtime, so I am saying 19th is my first day. Glad to join with you guys to help me keep motivation. I have been eating Paleo-ish for the last couple of months, but now want to get serious. So far feeling good - although I am already really missing my milk - big old glass every night before bed for probably close to 20 years. Ouch! But I am determined to keep it up for 30 days and then cross my fingers that reintroducing raw grass fed milk will go ok. Everything else I am (at this early stage anyway) fairly confident I can keep away from. Here's to 30 great days!!
mackmadwes
I'm starting tomorrow too! I successfully completed a Whole30 back in January and I felt awesome but slowly slipped into my "not so clean" ways. Looking forward to feeling better and getting back on track. Last time, it was the accountability group that kept me in check and was key to my success. I have a fitness/clean eating private FB group if anyone is interested in staying accountable together. Let me know and good luck everyone. Cass
AlyG
I will be starting today October 20th. I haven't been feeling well and now have other medical issues. I figured something like this would hopefully help change my eating habits and help lose weight. I was going to do a regular diet but realized I still eat various process foods, sugars, carbs etc on those diets as well.
staceyw
amberino21 , yesterday I had 2 eggs with 1/2 yellow pepper for breakfast, a salad with grilled chicken and mandarin oranges for lunch, and 2 boiled eggs with raw veggies and fruit for supper. Snacks were a banana, trail mix, and some almonds . But I AM starving and woke up this morning with a migraine. I really want to eat clean and do this but I don't feel so good like everyone else says they do. What am I doing wrong?

Do you have a copy of the meal template? http://whole9life.com/book/ISWF-Meal-Planning-Template.pdf Your meals have no fat, and are low in protein and vegies. A serve of eggs is as many as you can hold - that's likely 3-4. I'd aim for 2-3 cups of vegies per meal, including some starchy carbs (how frequent will depend on your activity level and fever all energy). You then need to add fat according to the template. If you are starving between meals, you should have a mini meal of protein, fat and vegies, not fruit and nuts. Snacking is discouraged though, and increasing your portion sizes to meet the template guidelines will likely see you go from meal to meal without hunger
maggyk
Today (20th) is my first day, as well. I've done this once before (about a year ago), and it went well. Went way off track in many directions thereafter - I'd been nursing a really awful gall bladder, which is gone now, and I'm officially tired of eating all wrong when I know better, so back on the wagon for me. MissChristian, my husband is also a high school teacher and debate coach, so I know exactly what about those can make new food choices difficult. The pizza, sandwiches, and cookies they bring for lunches at tournaments (and even the really nice stuff they put in the judges' lounge) aren't particularly Whole 30 friendly, but I think planning will be your friend there. Making meals ahead of time, planning for leftovers, etc., will give you a good supply of easy-to-pack lunches and meals for the road. You can do it! Peevish
I actually had a question - figured I'd ask here rather than starting a new topic. I'm finding the plan fairly straightforward and feel motivated so far. I am a little worried the 'novelty factor' wearing off will at least make it harder to stick at it. I like the idea of the whole30 daily subscription so the daily emails keep me engaged. However, as I am already on day 2, will it throw everything off whack for me? Basically are the daily emails day specific, so would it be odd for me to be reading a day 3 email on day 7? Or should I restart my days in my head so I am effectively doing a whole33? Thanks for any feedback
Donewsugar
Mackwadwes: I am starting today also and am in the same boat as you. I went off track after my last whole 30 and slid back into bad eating habits. I am hoping to slay the sugar dragon for good this time. Peevish: I did the daily emails and I don't think it will throw you off at all if you start them now. They are fairly general and you could read two a day until you get caught up. I found them very helpful.
Donewsugar
I also have a general question to put out there. The last time I did a whole 30, I caught 3 separate viruses from my kids, which is very unusual for me. Any recommendations about keeping the immune system fortified during this process? bluegreen123
Hi! Everyone MissChristian I am starting Whole30 on Monday, so will be a day off of you, but hope that I can still join your thread! I tried to do a Whole30 earlier this year and was not successful. I picked up some good habits, so I am optimistic that this time I will finish. Looking forward to the support as we do this! How exciting to know another healthy coach is out there! My first tournament on Whole30 is this weekend, and I think you are right. I need to plan and pack healthy food options for myself. I plan on packing something that doesn't require heating, just in case they don't have a microwave! It is nice to know someone else is doing the same thing! amberino21, on 18 Oct 2013 - 7:36 PM, said: Why does being a teacher and debate coach mean you have to eat things you shouldn't? I totally need to start telling myself that. I actually turned down the lunches provided for us by the PTA for the next few weeks because I KNOW I'll eat something I shouldn't! ALSO - after many fun hours, okay not hours only like 20 minutes, with the Keurig machine at school, I made some French roast coffee and heated up some coconut milk in the microwave and it turned out pretty yummy! I don't need that packet of sugar after all! A few discoveries from this weekend - one - if you have a Trader Joes near you, GO! They have awesome prices on grass fed beef and organic fruits and veggies. I bought four pounds (prepackaged) for around $20. I am still looking for the best deal on organic or free range chicken. Any suggestions on stores with good deals? Like I said, I've eaten paleo for about a year now, but this is my first time to buy and cook organic or grass fed meat. I was thinking, why do this thing for 30 days without going all the way! GUYS! I am SO happy everyone is involved in this! Even if we are all a few days off from each other - it is still nice to have some support. Keep up the good work! J
lizzie_s
I'm starting to feel better again and a little more settled into the Whole 30 lifestyle. Fatigue is knocking me out but I know this will pass in a few days. My biggest struggle is to really be making time for the things I need to do for myself -- sit down to concentrate on a meal, exercise and stretch, meditate. All the things that support the way I want to live and feel.
maggyk
My favorite part of this is absolutely the food. I don't want a bagel with cream cheese. I will happily give up ice cream forever (OK, at least 20 more days) if I can keep eating roasted chicken wings marinated with pineapple juice and coconut aminos or Frenched lamb with roasted broccoli. People keep trying to feel sorry for me...and then they compare their Jimmy John's sandwich to my chicken fingers with coconut and macadamia nut crust and gazpacho, and they start to think maybe I'm not really suffering all that much after all.Headache day was not fun, but other than that, I'm doing well. No quitting for me.
