Newbie starting in November

Hello there! I'm planning on starting my first Whole30 in November. A bit of background: I've dabbled a little with paleo in the past but can't seem to fully commit. I'm an avid Crossfitter, and try to find the time to WOD 3-4 times a week, but lately chronic inflammation is really getting in the way. My knees sting, swell and burn after every workout, and my performance is really decreasing. I actually took a week off working out this week because I was so low energy.

I'm hoping to do a hard reset on my body with this. I'm most nervous about alcohol. My social circle drink a lot - after work drinks, parties etc, and whenver I don't drink someone always makes a comment. I can keep away from sugar and I barely eat grains, but it's hard to resist the social pressure. A good friend is also getting married this month, but I think they'll be more understanding.

Any advice on how to get ready for the month?

As it gets closer to your start date, plan your meals at least for the first 2-3 days, and shop so you have all the ingredients.

On the alcohol thing, as someone who enjoys wine, I too was concerned about that.  I just kept reminding myself that it's only 30 days. For your social situations, soda water and lime is a good substitute, and eat something compliant beforehand.  If pressed, you can say something like, "I'm testing life without alcohol for 30 consecutive days to see if it improves my health/inflammation/performance."
