JustAMom
I updated my signature. I'm not sure how success is defined here. My final goal is to hit 130 pounds, but by golly, I feel ridiculously happy about the progress my health and body shape has made this year. I certainly feel this has been successful and plan to stick with it. Thanks Whole30!

noideawhatdayitis
"JustAMom"? I don't think so! You have ten children and manage to find time to write a blog and follow the Whole30!!!!! You should enjoy feeling "ridiculously" happy - you have well and truly worked hard . Thank you for sharing, very inspiring.
JustAMom
This may sound silly, but finding out I weigh 4 pounds less than my dog made me feel giddy... I might make that my profile pic... That didn't work very well. All it shows is mastiff bum. Ha. This may sound silly, but finding out I weigh 4 pounds less than my dog made me feel giddy... I might make that my profile pic... Greek to me
Congratulations on your huge personal accomplishments! You have every reason to feel giddy for sure!!! I would like to know how frequently you've done the whole 30 since January 1, 2013? Is this your 2nd time? If so,, what did you do in between that supported your continued weight/fat loss? JustAMom
I'm in my fourth round. It really has not been a problem to keep it off between rounds. I haven't been going way off road though either. A date night on the weekends, occasional desserts (like 1-2 a week), wine a few nights with dinner each week. With each round, I've wanted to go less and less off road afterward. Round 3, was my hardest round yet. I don't know why, but I didn't lose weight or inches and I had really strong cravings I haven't had so bad even with my first round. I way over indulged the weekend it ended and regretted big time by the following Monday. But I didn't gain anything either. The bad reaction though was enough to make me start this current round within 2 weeks of finishing the last one. I'm working towards no longer having rounds, but just living this way. This round will end in time for me to make the thanksgiving feast! and the following Monday I'll start the next round until I need to make the Christmas feast. My current plan is to be whole 30 compliant between major holidays/events, which works out very nicely to 30-45 days between most of them. I don't do anything different between rounds than I do during rounds. During round 1, I decided to get busy every time I felt a craving or hungry. So me and the teens here landscaped the front yard and we dug out and installed a 16' above ground pool in the backyard. By the time we finished those projects, it was too hot to do anything but get in the pool. I was swimming several hours a day at the end of round 1, but it tapered off to just several times a week once the school year kicked in gear and not at all now that the pool has been closed for the season. I have started doing as much standing as I can instead of sitting. I write at a hutch now instead of sitting to do it. I pace while giving lessons instead of sitting next to them the entire time. It's not major calorie burning, but it's improvement from being sedentary. Also, I have a messed up ankle and hip that act up. If I just slow down, they pain eases so it's hard to convince myself to pay mucho bucks for a good chiropractor. If we can afford it, I won't put it off more than 2 days anymore. It's just not worth the impact on my life if I can go to the chiropractor for an adjustment and be sore, but otherwise back up to 100% in 2 hours instead. I'm really worried that the activity reducing cold weather (So painful on the hands and joints! Ugh. Makes me feel old to complain about the cold weather on my joints, but there it is all the same.) and holidays will lead me off track and gain weight back. I'm hoping to fit in some of my Walk Away the Pounds DVDs to make up for it. But that's been really hard to manage so far around all the home schooling and mom taxiing I do daily. I'm making a list of stuff I want to do around the house. Take old English to all the woodwork. I have a LOT of woodwork in this house. Clean out closets. Paint some rooms. Idk if I'll get any of it done though. But it's something to get me moving even when the weather sucks and I don't need to go somewhere to do it. And I'm working on some recipes for holidays so that there is something that is compliant on the table. I'm cooking for 50ish people, so I know I'm going to have stuff that won't be compliant because we have the required family tradition dishes, iykwim, but each item that I can add that is compliant will be helpful. It'll be nice to know there is something I can have without feeling guilty. I'm testing a very close to compliant sweet potato pie today. The only non compliant ingredient is honey. I'm wondering how good it would be if I just left that out. And if it really is necessary if I can make a date paste that would suffice.
