Not seeing benefits...

Recommended Posts

I'm on day 20, and not seeing much in the way of benefits.  Everything is the same - same sleep quality, same energy level, same aches and pains.  Admittedly, I didn't have any major problems before I started the Whole30, except for a sugar addiction, which I haven't indulged in in the last 20 days (my only bright spot in this endeavor).  I have been counting on the promise that I'd feel so good I wouldn't mind the dietary restrictions, but since I am not feeling any different, I DO MIND!  VERY MUCH!!!  Starting to think that this isn't for me and feeling like I'm the only person in the world with a neutral Whole30 experience....

Okay. It isn't always flash and bang results. So no, you are not alone.

What were your goals? To eat healthier? Yay you are!

Are you looking to lose weight, find health related triggers, bring down your A1C?

I'd stick with it to the end. For one of my rounds, I was so frustrated because I saw no obvious benefit until the last week. Idk what happened in my body the last week, but suddenly I saw improvement.

Also, I can't see sig lines in mobile view, but are you married or living with others? If so, do they see any positive differences? My husband says I may not notice, but he and the kids absolutely do think I am happier and less moody when I'm doing W30. About a week after I stop a round, dh starts subtly nicely suggesting he has noticed a difference and it isn't a more pleasant one.

Sometimes though it's really hard to see the benefit until you go off road and suddenly you're all, "what the world has happened?!"

If you read around these forums, you'll see some folks do seem to think they need to go longer than 30 to see benefits. I know that might not be what you want to hear right now, but it's something to consider.

Good luck.

I agree, I didn't feel much different until I ADDED something back in. then I was like - OH, shit! I did feel better!! but I will also say that there wasn't a huge shift for me as far as body composition, etc, until way late (and I did 100 days (not recommended!) ) but keep going. it has been said time and again that people don't feel different until that last few days (probably why it's 30 days...)

The other ladies have made some great points - you still have 10 days to go, but whilst you may need longer than 30 days to see benefits, perhaps post a few days worth of food for us to see? perhaps there are suggestion we could make as to improving your experience for the last 10 days?

Hi queem! I feel the same as you. It's nice to avoid sugar, but the craving is still there and I don't think it'll ever go away. It's all about will power I guess. I am a bit behind you - on day 12 today. I plan on sticking it out for 30 days, maybe the reintroduction will show me something? Or at the very least I will realize that it's not a craving but a lack in will power and will hopefully continue to avoid mass produced sweets. But like you, I keep reading these great success stories, I just don't have any of my own to share - maybe I'm a bit more constipated...and I've been going to bed earlier, but not sleeping better, just more tired. I'll be interested to see how your last week and a half goes. I remain hopeful and think it'll turn around in the home stretch!

Sugar cravings can change, really. I used to be a total sweet tooth  - it was part of my self-identity from childhood on! - and I don't think I would have believed how I feel now, which is that they just don't matter to me that much and I never think about them. I had started reducing sweets before my W30 so I wasn't really struggling with cravings at that point, but the full 100% compliance definitely helped.
