No appetite

Recommended Posts

This is Day 11 for me and it had been going fairly well until almost two days ago. I had not appetite for dinner two nights ago but forced myself to eat the beef stew I made in the crock pot. Woke up yesterday and had no appetite whatsoever. I should've eaten something before working out with my personal trainer, but I just didn't have an appetite. Of course I became light headed while working out. I came home and ate a banana and then headed off to a luncheon and had a compliant meal. I felt nauseated after and then was not hungry at all again last night. But suddenly had a major craving for a glass of wine. I didn't give in and I didn't eat dinner either. Woke up this morning feeling light headed and again no appetite. I ate a banana and I'm feeling better but can't stomach anything else. Thankfully I have an appt with my physician this morning and she's an integrative medicine specialist. Any suggestions?

I went thru something similar on my W30.... Food, meat in particular was just not appealing and I lost my appetite. I could only handle sweeter/carby foods, like banana or apple w/ almond butter or sweet pot. It did pass. Maybe you just need to increase your carby veggies?

Been there. I didn't really do anything about it, since I wasn't truly active (and hence wasn't in dire need of energy), but it is a tricky situation. For some reason, the only things I could imagine eating during those times are raw carrots and raw red bell peppers. Anyhoo, I think praxisproject is right about the starchy veggies. It's better to do something about it and eat those things, even if you don't feel like it, as it'll only get worse with time. The less you eat, the less you feel like eating and the less you'll have energy to do anything about it.

You need to get some protein and fat in there, even if it's not appetizing.  The not eating/no appetite problem is a cycle, and the less you eat, the less you will feel hungry.  Give your body some fuel at consistent meal times and your appetite should return.

On the flip side, when I know I'm eating well, but I am a silly kind of hungry, for me it's too many starches. Cutting them out/down and I go back to normal. I've found it works in reverse as well for me, some starches in every meal boosts my appetite.

Not sure if this happens to other people, my blood sugar is a bit funny, I'm insulin resistant, but not diabetic.

I just kept eating the way we've been directed to and my appetite eventually returned. I didn't want to have to force myself but basically had to otherwise I would've passed out. Sorry I don't have any tricks to share with the group.

What I have advised others to do is prepare a lower template sized meal for each of the 3 meals and eat until you feel satisfied. Eat evenly so if you have leftovers you have a mini meal. If you do get hungry before your next meal time finish your leftovers. If you don't eat your next meal 5-6 hours later and repeat the process. Like amysue said, eventually your body will adjust.
