AussieMum
Hi, While I'm officially on day 1 of this program, yesterday I was compliant except for taking a vitamin gummie which had sugar in it. I've done a whole 30 before approximately a year ago, but bad habits have crept back in so it's time to do it again. Breakfast today was 2 eggs, with chicken pieces, grated carrot and zucchini cooked in coconut oil. Lunch today was chicken, and leftover curry mince and vegies cooked in coconut oil from yesterdays lunch. I also had an orange and some pistacchios. It's mid afternoon now, and I'm really hungry, so I'm planning on having an apple and some celery. Dinner tonight isn't planned, but I have plenty of meat and vegies so it wont be difficult to put something together. Will post in again tomorrow with what I had for dinner tonight and the plan for the day.
amberino21
Hi! Welcome to another whole 30 your meals look a little light in fat which may explain the afternoon hunger. A more substantial breakfast will likely set you up for greater satisfaction between meals throughout the day. Cooking fat doesn't really count for a lot as most will get left in the pan - you may need to add a fat after cooking as well. Snacking is generally discouraged, but if you're starving go for a mini meal of protein, fat and vegies instead of fruit (or fruit + celery)
melbournegirl
Good to be back??? Good luck aussiemum. I'm on day 15 today
AussieMum
Thanks Amberino, I'll keep that in mind for tomorrow. I think I met the same problem last time too and had to up my fat grams. Hi Juzbo, I remember you from last time I was on here. I'm feeling good and motivated today, but then again it's only day one. Unfortunately my dinner didn't work out, so I'm about to fry up a few eggs. I left my dd in charge of looking after a pork chop and some sweet potato in the oven while I went out, but it was dried to a crisp and couldn't be eaten when I got home. I still ate a little, but it was too hard on my teeth. Will fry some eggs now and add some fat.
AussieMum
I'm on to day 2 today. I felt good and had lots of energy earlier in the day, but now feel bloated as if I'm getting PMS. It's not that though, so is obviously one of the changes that are happening. Meal 1 today was an apple, a carrot and some pistacchios. Not ideal, I know, but I've always struggled with breakfast and the thought of the egg frittata I'd planned turned my stomach. I had to do manual work for 4 hours today which I'm not used to, but this breakfast held me over and I didn't feel hungry until lunchtime. I think the fat in the pistacchios helped and I'll try tomorrow to eat a better breakfast. Meal 2 was a mince, and vegetable curry. It was good and even though it's now dinner time I'm not hungry. I have some leftover that I will try for breakfast tomorrow if I still can't get the eggs down. Meal 3 tonight will be chicken wings with baked pumpkin and a salad. Roll on day 3 :-)
melbournegirl
Good job! I find pistachios very bloating
AussieMum
Day 3 was good. I ate well, wasn't hungry at all and feel good. I'm not sure when the dreaded withdrawals will hit, but so far I'm feeling great. Believe me it's not because I was already eating well, because I wasn't. My diet could barely have been any worse, so I'm expecting it to get tough. My energy levels are still good too. I probably didn't eat enough vegies today, will try to eat more tomorrow. Juzbo, the bloating is gone today, and I still ate some pistacchios, but had smaller amounts at each meal instead of a larger amount all at once. Back tomorrow. AussieMum
Today was day 4 and all went well except I'm incredibly tired tonight. I had an RDO from work today, so I should be relaxed and full of energy. Instead, I'm thinking of heading to bed about 1 1/2 hours earlier than normal because I just can't function. On the good side, maybe that means I've missed the hangover and angry stage. I can always hope. I only have 3 hours work tomorrow, then a day off, then the kids have a dancing event Sunday, so if I can get through my 3 hours tomorrow I should hopefully be ok by next week. I haven't been hungry today and have eaten according to plan. No energy to tell you what I ate, just trust me it was whole 30 approved. See you tomorrow. Roll on day 5. melbournegirl
Hope day 5 is better for you. I always find day 4-5 and day 12 tough for some reason, and no they are not always Fridays LOL
AussieMum
Day 5 has gone well despite it being a really busy day. It's after 9pm and I'm still cooking dinner. I seem to have lots of energy until mid afternoon, then I crash. Tomorrow should be easy, Sunday not so much as the kids have a dancing concert in the afternoon. I'll have to try to fit in an early lunch while getting them both ready.
melbournegirl
Well done, eat bigger breakfasts to avoid the afternoon crash, so many people swear by it. I take a lunchbox of peeled boiled eggs, carrot and celery sticks and a date or two when I am tied up at kids activities
AussieMum
Will keep that in mind. I still find breakfast tough to eat though. I'm not used to eating anything and it makes me feel sick when I eat early. I'm managing to eat something, but it's not a big meal. I think I might have be experiencing the first day of 'tiger blood', or a mini version of it anyway. I've achieved so much today and haven't felt hungry or tired once. I've eaten properly and due to it being a Saturday breakfast was easier to stomach. Might report in later to report if my energy level drops, but for now I'm making the most of it and weeding the garden.
melbournegirl
I only started feeling hungry again in the mornings a few days ago, the same might happen to you in a week???
AussieMum
It's evening now and I'm still feeling good. My body is aching because I did a lot of weeding today, but I'm not exhausted like I have been other times I've worked in the garden. I've got a really busy few days over the next few, so hopefully the energy will last. The only way I've gone off plan is that on some days I've eaten 3 pieces of fruit instead of 1-2. I haven't really eaten any fruit for most of the year (appalling diet), so since I've been enjoying them I've had that extra piece some days. I've only eaten fruit with a meal with lots of fat, and I really think I need the vitamins. It doesn't seem to have hurt me at all.

AussieMum
Day 7 today and I have to say this week has been much easier than expected. I'm not having cravings, except when I actually see pepsi. It seems as if it's a case of 'out of sight out of mind'. I've always had trouble with chocolate consumption, but haven't really even though about it all week. I guess I know I can't eat it, so I'm not tempted. The kids have helped by not having it around the house and only picking out junk foods that I don't eat when they want something. They're not on the plan just yet, but have talked about doing a modified version as one dd is type 1 diabetic and another is vegetarian. My energy levels are good, and my moods are stable. I have my kids in a dancing concert this afternoon, then one goes on school camp tomorrow, but all is calm, everything is ready and it's all going smoothly. Usually I'd have been frantically looking for things, preparing at the last minute and feeling really stressed. I've already eaten breakfast and lunch, so will now be fine until dinner after the concert. The dustbins are already out because it's bin night, and everything is prepared for the week ahead. AussieMum
I'm on day 9 today. My tummy feel less flabby than before and I still have lots of energy during the day. Unfortunately my sleep isn't as deep as normal and I'm waking a lot during the night. I'm not sure if it's due to stress (I've just started a new job and also have to find a new house to rent because this one was sold) or if it's diet related. melbournegirl
Sounds like it could easily be stress.... Job and home are pretty important!
AussieMum
True Juzbo. I'm also a witness in a court case in 2 1/2 weeks, so add that stress and it could explain why I was awake during the middle of the night for over 2 hours. Yesterday I forgot lunch until 3pm because I wasn't hungry and was busy. It didn't work well, with the first cravings I'd had and being hungry just before bed. I still had lunch, but at about 3.30, then dinner was at 7, but at 9 I was really hungry and cooked an egg to keep me going overnight. Had lots of energy though yesterday. Hope today is the same. AussieMum
Day 12 done. I'd started to run low on approved foods, so had to make a trip to stock up again. Tomorrow should be easier since I'll have plenty of choices again.
