Medically advised supplement with xylitol?

Because of a genetic problem, my body does not absorb a certain vitamin properly, and my doctor advised me to take a supplement in a specific formulation. I have a lot of trouble swallowing pills and capsules, so this particular vitamin, I can only take in lozenge form. The issue is that it contains xylitol. Is this a problem during OR after the Whole30? The alternative is to take an inferior form of the vitamin, which I'm pretty reluctant to do, because I already have a problem absorbing it in the first place...

Doctor's orders always trumps Whole30 rules. I guess the main problem with xylitol would be that it may keep you craving sweet things/sugar, but I don't think a lozenge would be feeding a sugar dragon too much. I also don't think a small amount of xylitol is too terrible for your body otherwise (I could be wrong!). I guess your other alternative would be to break a pill in half and see if that was easier to swallow, or hide it in a big spoon of mashed sweet potato :D
