Confused

Greek to me

Recommended Posts

Today I received day 25 of the information sheets. It had a link to a page where people gave breakfast ideas that weren't eggs and bacon.

Many of the items listed are not whole 30. Ie yogurt with fruit, or smoked salmon (contains some form of sugar in it). So what are these suggestions? Are they meant only for life after whole30?

Is there another meal program after whole 30 where these apply? I'm confused about the whole 30 vs whole9 definition b

I haven't ever received the emails, nor have I seen the list you mention. As you're on day25, perhaps for life post whole 30.

Yoghurt definitely isn't compliant, although it is included on the vegetarian list. It may be a suggestion of a better choice for foods that aren't ordinarily compliant. The whole 30 isn't designed to be done for life - it's acknowledged that we all may have things that are special and completely worth it :) you may not feel any ill effects from certain reintroed foods so may choose to include them in your diet - the frequency is up to you!

Some people have found compliant smoked salmon....

The reason I'm confused is because they note they asked their whole9 followers about their favorite non egg breakfasts. The ideas listed are not whole 30 compliant. So what is the difference between whole 9 and whole 30?

Amber, if we add foods back in (great) what template do we use. These foods do not fit the whole 30meal template. Perhaps that doesn't matter anymore?

The yogurt is not mentioned in the text of the daily emails, just to clarify for those who haven't seen them.

Often when they ask questions like that on Facebook, people respond with things that aren't W30-compliant. I agree that it might be confusing. Basically I'd give much more weight to what is said in ISWF, an official FB post/tweet *from* Whole9, a forum mod or the Hartwigs than I would to anything posted by anyone else on Facebook.

Yogurt is not compliant on the regular Whole30. Whether you add it in afterward is up to you. Also, my Trader Joe's has compliant smoked salmon.

What jent103 said. Public responses on a Facebook page for what to eat won't always be Whole30 compliant.

Whole9 is the name of Melissa and Dallas Hartwig's company.  Whole30 is the nutrition program.

Here are the Whole9 factors (which cover more than just food):http://www.whole9life.com/2013/01/whole9-our-9-factors/

After you complete a Whole30 and do reintroductions, you get to ride your own bike.  You can either choose to follow the Whole30 template or create your own guidelines for how you want to eat going forward.

Thank you SO MUCH for clarifying GFChris. That is exactly what I needed to know.

As far as following FB posts-FYI all, this was the link that was provided to the Whole30 people. This is the quote from the daily circular:

We asked our Whole9 Facebook readers, “What's your favorite (healthy) breakfast meal that's not eggs and/or bacon?†Can you believe we received almost 150 comments? You can view them all here, or read on for a few of our favorites:

When you click on the "view them all here" it takes you to the link. That's where you'll find off Whole 30 alternatives.

So, I wasn't seeking it out. It was delivered to me as part of the Whole30 package. Hence the confusion.

But you've all clarified and I appreciate the responses!

I see how this would cause confusion. FWIW, it does say "off Whole30 alternatives," so it looks like they're trying to give you post-Whole30 ideas, but I agree this could have been made more clear.

Glad you got your questions answered and clarified!

Another query about yogurt, I am not a vegitarian but my main protien source has always been cheese over meat so I dont eat much meat.  Can I eat the full fat yogurt as part of my protien source?

Can I eat the full fat yogurt as part of my protein source?

no. Yogurt is only allowed as part of the vegetarian protocol. If you are willing to eat any meat at all (or fish, etc.) then you should follow the regular plan and use those proteins. Mixing and matching is not permitted.
