Starting January 7th. That is TODAY! OMG

Hello everyone!

I am pretty pumped to do Whole30 again. I've done it in October of 2012 and had the best results and felt great...then Christmas of that year came around...and life...and I slowly got de-Whole30ied. This time around I am looking to make more of a lifestyle change rather than do it for 30 days.

I've spent the last two weeks in Russia...eating. To my surprise, the western diet is slowly taking over the world and what used to be fresh veggies and meat in Russia is now the same processed crap they sell here. I think i felt physically sick from eating eating eating...and I am at the point where I just need to give my poor body a break.

It's on folks. Your support is appreciated :-)

Hi I started today too. It´s my second attempt and although I felt a bit halfhearted about it yesterday I´m all geared up for it now.

I didn´t have the results ( good weight loss ) I hoped for last time but I do remember feeling pretty good after the second week. Of course I´m looking for weightloss again this time but I want to get rid of the cravings for sugar, bread and pasta especially and yep, it´ll do me good to go without alcohol for a while too.

Like you say Mikhail : time to give the body a break.

Good luck

I am starting today too!! Good luck!

What were you doing in Russia? We adopted ou daughter from Ukraine 1.5 years ago and I found the food they served at restaraunts was generally FAR superior to ours! (Of course, you couldn't drink the water or have ice in your soda because of parasites, so I guess we still win there! lol!)

How´s day 2 been everyone ?

I haven´t had any mega headaches or tiredness or anything but I think I´m starting to get a bit more bad tempered than I usually am.

The think I´m missing most is my "cuppa" ( cup of tea /s ) so far.

I was tired, but that's nothing new for me, since I'm often tired. (I think it was like often, however I couldn't really concentrate just drinking tea in Starbucks. (I was hungry then, I ate later something)) Yet also not really any cravings, what surprise me. (Because before I couldn't say no to sweet stuff, because cravings get so worse in the evening.) Maybe it‘s because of change in the Macronutrients? (More protein and fat, and less carbs)

Huh, but you can drink tea, so you don't need to miss them. O_O

Hey guys, thank you for all of the support.

I am actually feeling fine. I have this major jetlag, so last night I started to feel really lethargic and pissy. I don't know which one of it is jetlag and which is Whole 30.

The thing that made me get off Whole 30 last time is the fact that I reached the target weight I was looking for...at the time I had about 15 lbs to lose and I believe I lost 14, so I was right in the ball park. However having a goal or target weight or "trimming down" is what got me to gain weight back and get off eating healthy. I was in it for the wrong reasons.

This time I don't have any goals. Seriously. If you don't eat crap - health benefits ARE the obvious by-product. In the culture of instant gratification we would love to see the results like tomorrow. Unfortunately that's not how it works. I am 29 and the way I look and feel is the culmination of the last 29 years of my life and SURELY all of my missteps can not be undone with a 30-day commitment. My friends who are truly fit and healthy have been working at it for years. The most important thing here is to come from the right place. I just want to eat healthy to see the potential my body has when I take good care of it. That poor thing suffered through enough of grilled cheeses with tomato soups ;-)

Hello all.

It´s nice to share with someone at the same place as well as get some advice from the more "advanced" members (which of course is invaluble help)

Nheco - ah but it´s my " English cuppa" that I miss. Good of tea bag of black tea with a dash of milk.

Now I¨m drinking green or red tea which I enjoy but it´s not the same. LOL

I was feeling a tired this morning and even got dizzy on my early morning walk (nearly turned back home ) but it passed although yeah, I´m a bit tired today. Oh well. As we have been told. Patience!

Was often tired, also had a little but of sweet craving. (But not that serious, such cravings where much worser, when I eat mainly carbs in a a day. I'm even surprised how less I do crave sweets at the moment.)  About tiredness, kinda like I often feel. (Maybe a little bit more tired)

But I really need to think of some nice vegetable recipes.

Hi all,

How´s it going today ?

I´ve felt tired but apart from that ok.

Nheco - Yes, I know what you mean. I´ve often noticed that if I have a carb based breakfast I get more cravings the rest of the day.

Veggie recipes. :

Ehm - I haven´t got into the swing of it just yet and I´m not being very inventive but we (hubby and I ) enjoy "cauliflower rice" and I like to put a load of what I call "Mediterranean veg" peppers, aubergine, onion, tomato courgette´s etc in a roasting dish and slow roast in the oven.

Veggetable soup (stock made from chicken bones) is a staple at the moment and steamed veg.

Hope its going ok for everyone.

@Chati Hmm, I read once somewhere, if you eat just carbs for breakfast, you body will turn on carb using as fuel, if you eat some with fat , you body will more likely use fat as fuel. (Can't find the study, where it was written..)

XD I ate a little bit much fruit. Apart from that I felt well today. In the morning I even had the my perception was clearer. Also i feel like I did lose some weight. And some one, who saw last since two weeks before or so, said my skin was better. (I don't if is because of less sugar or because of no milk (I before daily consumed a lot of milk stuff, like frappuccinos, other milky drinks, ice cream and so on.)

Hi there,

Oh, it´s great isn´t it when someone comments on you looking better. I guess you can find out which one it is (milk or sugar ) when you start reintroducing.

I´ve noticed my eyes are a lot clearer and I don´t feel bloated. Had a headache on and off but managed ok.

Had a "family" day and stayed on track so I´m pleased about that.

Day 6 here we come... ;)

^^ Yesterday was a little bit not so vegetable-rich for me. (I was not at home, so I ate, what I could find and what's ok for whole30 (I ate canned tuna, banana, chestnuts, sashimi, shrimps-salad (found one, with nothing not whole30 in it), coconut. There was some vegetables in the salad)

I was with friends in a restaurant, but it was easy to stay whole30, since there was not really food, which I crave about. Also no one offered my a cookie (one friends buy cookies for all and share them, but when I was there this not happened. But even if, I think I could have said, this time not)

Yeah, I will see about my skin, I still have some not nice looking skin, so I just look what will happen in some days more. (And even if it is milk, I think it will be a difference if I consume milk products from happy cows. I think maybe it would be even possible to get fresh raw milk, if I want. (Directly from farmers) Also I saw, that Alp cheese is from cows, which was at least in the summer on the Alps (mountains) , means they eat then grass. (Also the cheese will then be made, when the farmer in the mountain with the cows)

I feel like I sleep better sine starting with whole30. ^^

well done Nheco on staying Whole30 whilst out at a restaurant with friends.

I don´t think I could find fresh raw milk anywhere round here. I used to many years ago.

I had a few temptations and cravings in the supermarket earlier on today. I´d only gone in to get some lettuce but suddenly the thought of a "nice glass of wine" to go with the steak and salad I was planning then some wonderful smelling crusty bread seemed like such a good idea too.

 managed to walk out with just the lettuce and some limes.

I´m sleeping better too but not enough. I´m wondering how to get round that one. I can´t seem to get to bed early enough to get at least 7 hours sleep.

Hope you and anyone reading is having a good day today.

It's harder for me to hold myself back in Starbucks to just take tea, then going to a fast-food restaurant and choose nothing from there.
Today was especially mean in Starbucks, they had problem with the hot water machines, so I couldn't take tea. I just didn't take anything then and just did go. (I go there to learn, but since it is sunday, it was likely anyway full with people, I don't know if I would have found a place to sit. Oh also it was maybe kinda strange to the staff. (I go everyday there and took frappuccinos, I didn't yet really explained that I want not eat any sweet stuff for a month.)

Huh, I have luckily not really craving for bread. Really I didn't eat much bread before. I do like it, sure. But I really rarely ate it.
