Heather.killgore
Okay so long story short...I'm having a dinner party at my place this weekend, but we are in the middle of the Whole 30. I would prefer not to make two separate meals, so any dinner party meal ideas would be appreciated. I am looking for an appetizer, main dish with 1 or 2 sides, and a dessert. Before anyone jumps on me, I know I'm not supposed to eat dessert or snack on things like appetizers. I'm wanting the whole thing to be whole 30 because some of my guests are interested in getting started with the program. No lectures, just recipe or menu ideas please! jent103
How many people are you cooking for? If you have Nom Nom Paleo's cookbook, her winter kale + persimmon salad is really good. (So is the Peruvian roast chicken, but that might be too many chickens if you have a lot of people!) If it's not a formal party, a big pot of chili? Melissa Joulwan's chocolate chili or Cincinnati-style chili (from Well Fed 2) are both good. Serve with spaghetti squash or zoodles, have avocado to top with... Deviled eggs or bacon-wrapped dates or something like that for appetizers? For a Paleo dessert, Nom Nom Paleo's Mexican pots de creme is awesome, but definitely not Whole30 compliant. You could make it for your guests as a "treat" and skip it yourself.
jent103
Oh, Sarah's fried apple idea is probably better than the pots de creme! I think Well Fed has a recipe if you need it.

kysanne
Apps: I posted all of these to another thread, and now I want them ALL like right now (I've actually made the prosciutto wrapped asparagus before and they were insanely popular): http://nomnompaleo.com/post/37988064841/paleo-shrimp-stuffed-mushrooms http://www.iwashyoudry.com/2013/03/15/guacamole-deviled-eggs/ http://eatdrinkpaleo.com.au/prosciutto-wrapped-asparagus-recipe/
KatMar
I'm headed to a friends for dinner tomorrow and she's making steak and asparagus. I'm going to bring a dish of roasted root veggies: sweet potato, rutabaga and maybe Brussels sprouts... Mmm. Simple and tasty!
