GreenGeckoUSA
My boyfriend and I are newbies on Day 4 of our first cycle. We bought a huge bag of almonds mainly to make almond milk but he has been eating them as a snack when he's home. The problem is that he can't stop once he starts. Yesterday he ate about 2 cups of almonds. I know Whole30 isn't about portion control but we both think he is eating too many and I'm wondering what approach we should take (portion control or avoidance)? How much is too much? Ruby
Nuts don't really agree with my system and I have a tendency to go completely overboard on them, too. The only thing that worked for me was to just get them out of the house completely. Eat bigger meals so you don't need snacks, switch to coconut milk (a better fat source anyway), and ditch the almonds.
GreenGeckoUSA
Thank you. I was also leaning towards avoidance but I felt guilty about it for some reason. I think the almonds trigger him so we will try your suggestion.
Moderators Tom Denham Posted January 9, 2014 Moderators Share Posted January 9, 2014 The meal template allows for a closed handful of nuts. Some people measure nuts into baggies and eat one baggy per day. I think the best choice if you can't control snacking is to never have them in the house. Because let's get real, it is too easy to eat 2 or 3 baggies of nuts once you get started.
