Swim, lift, and core fatigue 1st week

I'm an experienced swimmer, I swim two hours a day six days a week, lift for an hour two days of the week, and do dryland (core, strengthening) for an hour three days a week. I used to drink a protein shake after each workout to prevent muscle soreness. With such an intense workout schedule, I've found it really hard to maintain my energy levels and stay happy. I find myself tired, cranky, and fatigued/sore most of the time. Does it get better? Are there any foods I can eat that are similar to my old carb-intense diet that gave me fuel?

Thanks!

You really can excel training like this and eating real food. Don't take my word for it; read the training/food log of our old friend FenderBender. It runs multiple pages as he provided a lot of detail over time.
