Kage
HI, I am starting my 1st whole30 on Monday. I am about halfway through reading ISWF, I've stocked my pantry and fridge and I am madly planning what I will eat and how to get around social situations (that is going to be the trickiest bit). -aliwonderland-
My biggest and best solution for social situations has been - bring the social situation to my house! I've actually been excited that a picky-eater naturally-thin friend who normally does not eat well enjoyed my food! I invited her over, along with several friends who are also eating paleo to some degree (less hardcore than Whole30). She was expecting to leave hungry go through a fast-food drive through on the way home, but instead found herself enjoying roasted cauliflower and other snacks and left full. I'm having people over again this weekend so I don't have to go through social withdrawal as well as favorite-food withdrawal. The menu at my social gathering was: friends brought sparkling water, carrot sticks and celery sticks (important to choose things that people can't mess up and have sneaky added unhealthiness - soy, sugar, artificial sweeteners, etc) I served: - homemade chili mayo - store-bought salsa verde - homemade faux BBQ sauce (50/50 tomato paste/balsamic vinegar + salt, pepper, smoke seasoning, hot sauce to taste) - paleo spinach-artichoke dip http://www.ourpaleolife.com/2013/03/creamy-spinach-artichoke-dip/ with red pepper slices and roasted cauliflower for dipping I've only gone out once. It was a happy hour event, and my sparkling water with lime effectively fooled everyone into thinking I was drinking, and then I had a deviled egg as my foodstuff. But being surrounded by chicken and waffles was hard. Good luck! If I can do it, you can do it! (I'm day 10 of my first Whole30)
Kage
Thank you for your reply. Those sauces sound great especially the chilli mayo. I have woken up this morning feeling completely unmotivated. Oh well at least every thing is already planned for today all I have to do is eat it
