firegypsymama
So I start my whole30 officially tomorrow. I have been easing into it the last two days, saying goodbye to chocolate yesterday and bread/cheese tonight. I'm making paleo pulled pork chili in my slow cooker as we speak for the next couple of days and did some paleo staple grocery shopping earlier today. I find that I'm nervous as since my daughter was born 8 months ago my self determination for eating well has gone way out the door, on the other side of the world. It certainly doesn't help that my partner can eat anything and everything and not gain a pound, something he takes full advantage of. Staying strong to not cheat will be my hardest feat yet. Here it goes.
Physibeth
Just because your partner can eat without gaining weight doesn't mean he is healthy though. That said my husband doesn't eat even close to the way I do. It isn't easy but it is worth it and I make it work.
firegypsymama
I never said he was healthy :-) anything but, really. Day 1 was a resounding success! I had 2 egg whites and a regular eggs with spinach and broccoli and coconut flakes, for lunch I had pulled pork paleo chili http://paleomg.com/crockpot-pulled-pork-chili/ and for dinner I had a large romaine salad with broccoli and two chop strawberries with a homemade balsamic vinaigrette. Some coffee in the morning water in between and tea at night. It has been very cold here in the Seattle area, way colder than we're used to! I moved out of the Midwest to avoid this kind of temperature yuck. in addition to going paleo, I am also working out more regularly. Yesterday I walked 3 miles 1 mile with hand weights and two miles with both ankle and wrist weights. Tonight I plan on doing I have been hour of strength training and at least 20 minutes of Pilates. Day 2 has been pretty good, I had to add white and broccoli, for lunch I had of romaine and spinach salad with avocado and balsamic vinaigrette, and so far I just ate a whole bag of tropical trail mix, I guess that's my dinner wink face. I picked up some quail eggs today too... Now how do I best prepare them? In other news I did great at the new massage job today and am making birthday dinner for my friend the artist and her lover tomorrow. Vegetable curry is on the menu (rice for them but not me). does anyone have any good tips for paleo on a budget?
Physibeth
Ahh someone who will sympathize with me about how fraking cold it is in Seattle right now. I moved from the east coast for the mild temperatures as well. While I appreciate the sunshine my skin is starting to crack. Grrrr. A note on the eggs - W30 recommends eating whole eggs and not just egg whites. For one most of the nutrition of the egg is in the yolk. For two they are so very very tasty! I get really high quality pastured eggs at PCC and I don't waste any yolks at all. When egg is your primary protein source a palm sized serving is the number of whole ones you can hold in your hand. Never prepared quail eggs before so no suggestion there. I'd probably try them fried myself. firegypsymama
So I feel like I did kill all of the things, including the whole30... I massaged all day without a break yesterday and literally forgot to eat, that is until my loving and just trying to see me fed boyfriend stuck a small slice of frozen pizza with BBQ and banana peppers on top in front of my slightly thc-ed face and I scarrffeed the eff out of it then ate another slice and a small portion of ice cream and then a candy bar. Big defeated sigh. So back at it again today, also have barely eaten but just got a peach cup and avocado in me. So depending on how you look at it I am on day 1 again or day 6. Big defeated sigh, technically day 1. There is always tomorrow right? Better planning, better eating, better me.

You got back on and started over (or extended to a W36, whichever way you want to look at it) and therefore you didn't fail and you are not defeated. You also learned that you need to find a way to get a break for your meals and have a plan of what you will eat. Also have a chat with the bf to make sure he understands what you can and can't eat so he can be supportive and help you stay fed.
