ErynRNY
I've noticed that a lot of people on the forum eat Aidells Chicken & Apple Breakfast Sausage. It seems compliant, but I am wondering about the sodium nitrite in the ingredients list. Is this just something that people are willing to overlook because technically they are compliant? What is the Whole30 position on nitrites?
AllyB
We eat them a lot. I'm hoping they are compliant cuz they are tasty! My daughter loves them as well.
nikki5577
INGREDIENTS: CHICKEN, DRIED APPLES, SALT, FRUIT JUICE CONCENTRATE (APPLE, PINEAPPLE, PEAR, AND PEACH), SPICES AND CELERY POWDER, IN A PORK CASING. Here are the ingredients on the ones I eat. No nitrates. This is the Dinner Sausage. The breakfast sausage has nitrates.
missmary
As far as the whole30 is concerned, Nitrites/ates are fine, sulfites/ates are not.
Moderators Tom Denham Posted February 6, 2014 Moderators Share Posted February 6, 2014 In their bacon manifesto - http://whole9life.com/2012/03/bacon/ - the Whole9 declines to get into the nitrate/nitrites debate.

Moderators ultrarunnergirl Posted February 6, 2014 Moderators Share Posted February 6, 2014 It's the refrigerated Aidell's Chicken and Apple Sausage where I live, not the frozen. They are hot dog sized and shaped. They also make a compliant kielbasa. Smokier.
RGJax2014
I'm so happy to read this since I have some of these in my meat drawer in the fridge predating the start of my Whole30.
