Kmkeener
Is Tyson's grilled & ready fully cooked seasoned steak strips acceptable for whole 30?
Moderators Tom Denham Posted February 7, 2014 Moderators Share Posted February 7, 2014 What are the ingredients on the package? This is part of your learning process... looking at labels to see if there is anything listed that violates the Whole30 rules.
msssjenna
Here are the ingredients: Beef, water, seasoning [salt, beef stock, beef fat, spice, flavors, silicon dioxide, lactic acid, disodium inosinate, disodium guanylate, autolyzed yeast extract, cottonseed oil, vegetable stock (carrot, onion, celery) and onion powder], contains 2% or less of: natural flavor, caramel color, dextrose, sodium phosphate. No I dont think they are. It would be much better for you to cook up a couple steaks over the weekend, and reheat them during the week when needed. Moderators Tom Denham Posted February 7, 2014 Moderators Share Posted February 7, 2014 Caramel color and dextrose are both sugar, which makes this not okay for a Whole30, not to mention the unpronounceable stuff. You can do so much better.
Kmkeener
Okay, I'm on a pretty tight budget so I'm trying to figure out what meats to get. I've already gotten to frozen chicken and tilapia but it would be nice to have some other kind of meat too.

Pre-cooked and pre-seasoned meats are generally going to be more expensive than fresh ones I've found. You just have to be willing to shop for and cook the cheaper cuts of meat.
