seemommarun
So, starting the program soon! Can I have cauliflower and broccoli? Onions? They're some of my fave veggies! But, on the whole30 fodmap, they're in Grey, and it says the grey veggies are to be avoided. http://whole30.com/downloads/whole30-shopping-list-FODMAP.pdf But in the seasonal produce guide, it lists those veggies. Am I really supposed to not eat all the veggies in gray?? Garlic and mushrooms and celery?? Thanks for the help!!
GFChris
Are you following the FODMAP Whole30 or the standard Whole30? If you're following the FODMAP Whole30, then you would not eat the greyed out veggies on the FODMAP shopping list. Alternatively, if you're following the standard Whole30, here is that shopping list. seemommarun
Oh! I didn't know there was a difference! What's the fodmap?
runninglawyer88
Some people have issues digesting certain carbohydrates so those people follow a more restricted diet that eliminates FODMAPS. If you were looking for the regular Whole 30 shopping list you can find it here: http://whole9life.com/book/ISWF-Shopping-List.pdf
GFChris
FODMAP is geared towards folks with IBS or Irritable Bowel Syndrome. It stands for Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides And Polyols. Typically folks with IBS are bothered by the greyed out veggies. If you don't have IBS, then follow the standard Whole30 protocol.

deesmith56
My stomach has been extremely sore and had more constipation since I started the whole30. I have had stomach problems for about 30 yrs off and on. Most of the time I have diarrhea but now I am bloated with stomach pain, and more constipated! I really want to finish the whole 30. Should I go on the FODMap whole30 or what would anyone suggest? Can I take probiotics on this?

Should I go on the FODMap whole30 or what would anyone suggest? Can I take probiotics on this? You can take probiotics, yes, just read the ingredients and make sure nothing off plan is in it. On the other hand, it might help if you could give us a run down of what you've been eating (include portions and timing), fluids, stress, sleep etc. What caused or alleviated your stomach issues prior to Whole30? Is there anything you are eating a lot of now that you didn't before? Like nuts, raw veggies, coconut, garlic/onions, peppers, cruciferous veggies etc? All of these have a reputation for being gut irritators. How's your water intake? Your leafy greens intake? Starchy veggies? How much fruits are you eating?
