bevmouse
I have several races coming up, a 5K, duathlon, triathlon and obstacle course 5k. Not concerned about the 5K or the obstacle course but wondering how to fuel during the duathlon and triathlon? Thanks for the assistance
mrstungett
I bring dates on my long runs, and fuel with plain coconut water every other water bottle. I fuel pre-run with a mashed banana mixed with coconut oil and a little salt. Sounds gross, but actually pretty good
Carmen Cosentino
It depends on you triathlon distance, for you 5k's you should be fine with a regular preWo meal. Are you doing an Olympic tri? I like to eat a HB egg and a small handful of raw cashews before running. That has held me over for a 16mile run.
KimmyS
Same boat here... I am planning this race reason to be my first season without gels. 10th year of racing. Finished my second ironman in sept and usually race 5 tris and a handful of running races per year.. My longest distance is only a half ironman this year so I think I will be okay experimenting this summer and getting my nutrtion figured out thankfully due to this forum!!! Some great ideas so far So just bought some ziplock type packs to carry my homemade gels in for. Last year during ironman training I did bring sweet potatoes to munch on after my 75+ bike rides and I was in heaven... I just had them sitting in my car for after. I usually need 300 calls an hour to not bonk so I will see what happens and keep you posted in the forums
Moderators ultrarunnergirl Posted April 1, 2014 Moderators Share Posted April 1, 2014 Here's a ton of info on fueling on the Whole30. A friend and I both coincidentally started the Whole30 during our Spring ultrarunning season. We both had fantastic results overall and loved the program, but our running fared quite differently during this time. My experience(s) running while my body switched over to fat burning: http://ultrarunnergi...on-whole30.html (there are links to several posts on this topic within) My friend's experience(s): http://iseetrails.wo...-30-and-beyond/ (again more links within the post) My page with links to other athletes who fuel this way: http://ultrarunnergirl.blogspot.com/p/blog-page.html Good luck!
