day 22 and stomach ache

Hi all, I am on day 22 on my first whole 30. I still have quite a irritated stomach, is this normal this far on into whole30? I thought my body would have adjusted to the extra fat by now but maybe not :)

If you have not been eating much protein or fat in the past, your gut may not have all the bacteria it needs to efficiently digest what you are currently eating. In such situations, it helps to take digestive enzymes for a while as your gut grows the bacteria it needs. You might want to review this article: http://whole9life.com/2012/09/digestive-enzymes-101/

I'm having this trouble as well; I'm on Day 18.  I read the article and have many of the symptoms mentioned; also, I have no gall bladder and I wonder if this is contributing to my problems.  I know coconut oil is good for me and have been using that as a cooking oil; eating coconut tends to cause me to be vey gassy and bloated, so I've taken that out of my diet.  I've started probiotics today - I'll give them a few days to see if they help and will consider adding digestive enzymes after that.  Are there any other supplements I should consider as a "gallbladderless" person?

Foursimplewords, I read your post about bereavement - just wanted to give you a "virtual hug" and wish you well :)

Oh dear.  I am by no means an expert in probiotics - I've read exactly one article.  I don't know if it was linked through this site or came from somewhere else, but the "expert" quoted there is someone who counsels that he never prescribes a probiotic with less than 10 billion organisms per capsule.  He said that there are many OTC probiotics that are no good - the organisms aren't present in the amounts listed on the bottle or are not viable - and recommended two reputable brands...I only remember the one I bought, which is Jarrow.  My capsules have only 5 billion organisms per capsule, but they seem to be helping.  I'm cautious by nature, and I've read that one shouldn't swallow supplements and probiotics without a sense of what's going on (ie, testing) - so 5 billion was a way of putting a toe in the water without getting too crazy:)

How do you feel otherwise?  Even with the gassy bloat, I feel great...I have a very strong sense that this is how I should be feeding my body - this is a forever way of eating for me now.  All systems are go except the bowels, and I will keep working on figuring those out.  If I can't completely restore normal function in that department, I'll find someone to do some testing and tinkering until things are right:) Maybe you're already at this point because your stomach pain is constant...and perhaps this is also part of your grieving since you are not a walking GI system, but a whole being where a disturbance in one system has ripple effects in others :)

At any rate, I'm rooting for you and looking forward to the day that you post about how great you're feeling in all ways.  Be well, foursimplewords!
