Needs some Chef advice

Hello found the following recipe for BBQ sauce, truly appeals to me...

What I want to know is do you think it would be ok to GREATLY reduce the paprika and Chiptole?

 

I tried a sauce that used smoked paprika with Orange and it was disgusting... Figure next time I cut it out completely.

 

Also with my ulcer I cannot do too much spice.. So thought I could cut the heat down to at least 1/4??

 

Let me know what you think.. I am pretty knew to this, and well, this would not be a cheap recipe.

I'd do it.  I always adjust spices to my taste.  I leave out cumin, add NM red chile, adjust up or down for heat.

 

If you do try it, let us know how it turns out.
